Can see us transfer listing
Brayford
Done
Scougal
McNulty
Coutts

Wilder needs to trim the wage bill and in the process raise funds for his type of players
Apparentky our budget is 3.5 million down from 8.5 last season
This still allows 3.5k / week for a squad of 20 players, although obviously it has to be teamed and ladled to accomodate the higher earners like sharp

I think we'll come to an agreement with Brayford. He want to play at a higher level and unlikely to get it with us next season. We need his wages off the wage bill. Suits both to mutually terminate. He'll easily get a club if a free agent. It means Kev gets nothing back on his investment but doesn't cost him money to pay him off or keep paying wages. I'm guessing McNulty won;t be on a high wage and easily moved on. I hope he pays Coutts up and boot him out the door. The other two, I don't know. Fleetwood may be prepared to go for Scougs. I'd like Done to stay but he'll get suitors from league 1.

If the rumours are correct then CW will need to bring in 10/11 new players. That's a difficult ask with almost no budget.

Have the club gone down a new path of just letting a few fans know the retained list and leaving it to them to spread the word on forums and twitter?

I feel like I'm the only person who doesn't know who's been paid up.

You and someone called Magic Mike

Havent read the thread in depth so must have missed that.
How many are we supposedly paying up?
Can't see that for a second.

3 players who featured against Scunny and still have another year have been paid up.

Scunthorpe lineup:
Long - out of contract
Basham - 1 year
Edgar - loan ended
Baptiste - loan ended
McEveley - out of contract
Done - 1 year
Coutts - 1 year
Woolford- 1 year
Hammond - loan ended
Sharp - 1 year
Adams - 2 years

Subs
Cuvelier - out of contract
Whiteman - 1 year
Reed - 1 year

If that's true then it can only really be 3 of Reed, Basham, Done, Woolford and Coutts and if that is the case, this isn't a root and branch change, it's a root, branch, fence...the whole bloody garden.

Don't worry Soppers, you are not alone. There are a select few who know stuff the rest of us don't. Or are making random shit up. Don't take it personally you have to be ITK to be a true blade :)

all this complaining about how long it's taken strikes me as just frustration we don't know yet. Wilders not been here a week yet and by all accounts is finalising the list.

Patience.

Of course it's better to let the actual manager decide who he wants not having a squad forced on him by the board.

The problem is, we're not starting from scratch. I'd guess the wages for just Brayford and Coutts are close to £1.5m per season.

If we could miraculously get rid of all our senior players at no cost, then a wage budget of £3.5m would probably be sufficient.

We were almost down to a sensible budget when the Prince turned up but then the club decided to gamble again. Just like we did under Robson, forgetting that if the gamble fails, you're stuck with unsuccessful players on high wages for another two years.

Please, no more gambles. Let's have a proper three year plan, realistically costed and with an acceptance that we might not get promoted with some idea of what we will do if we don't. Remember, a Brayford isn't just for Christmas.

'.....a proper three year plan' - take care BushBlade we'll be operating like a professional business next.

Wait a minute, are we moaning because we're hypothetically releasing too many or too few? I can't keep up!

Ha, it's complicated!

I think most of us would be happy if we only kept 4-6 of those on our books.

But replacing that many is a difficult job on a tight budget. I think we need 15 senior pros at least. Not to mention getting a coherent team out of it. CW is really going to earn his corn straight away. It's a tough task and one I hope he can pull off.

If true, Coutts Done & Woolford I'd predict. Odd thing is I think we could get a 6 figure sum for Done or Basham.

sometimes you just have to drop things for your own credibility. You have said this multiple times so no need to repeat it really is there?

And you're still wrong.
Remember being told that about Adkins.
I'm not wrong, you just have an opinion and don't have the ability to see beyond the fact that I must be wrong because it's different to mine.
All I've said isn't even opinion really, simply stating an alternative way the retained list could have been dealt with should we have had someone with a clue about the squad on the board.

All this hassle about the retained list,
Wilder is doing due diligence on all the players, they are all employed by sufc and as such have to be treated
correctly. We as individuals would expect our employers to treat us with respect,Mr Wilder is doing it the right way,we will soon find out and after all he's only been in the hot seat for a week, crikey give him time to breath

If they've paid up anyone other than Woolford and Coutts that's insanely stupid, wasteful and unnecessary.

Done - could get a fee for him.
Basham - important player.
Adams - asset.
Whiteman/Reed - promising youngsters on low wages.

Hopefully it's just a case of releasing McEveley and paying off Woolford and Coutts.

Depends who's left from the big earners I suppose...if we say Billy, Coutts, Brayford, Done, Cuvelier are the best part of half a million each?

Would it be reasonable that the rest, kids and what-not (who are left) make up £1 million?

Who knows eh?

It'd be a waste of budget to pay anyone up in my view.
If the retained list is as long as it should be, there's more than enough room left for a nice and compact squad to be built.
No need to go overboard and pay up contracts that can go towards increasing the budget for players.

Not sure it will be as simple as that. The delay could be that Mr Clough is on holiday and the deals for Coutts and Basham have not gone through yet. We aren't going to simply pay people off and give them a year, we are going to arrange transfers where we pay the difference in wages.

surely.....
