Our BladeyBlade a hoofer?

Just going by what I've read & through looking at a few youtube clips, but looks very much like Northampton played the ball on the floor last season, with a distinct passing game.

Energetic & committed, and a high pressing game, yes, but don't know about hoofing at all? Though difficult to tell from a few clips & newspaper reports, admittedly.

On the concerns front: seem strangely vulnerable in the air from set-pieces; horrible pink away shirts.

So, what are you expecting on the footballing front? More of a mixed game, with some long-ball thrown in? A continuation of the passing game of recent seasons, but with more tempo, energy & attacking intent? Or low expectations from a BladeyBlade who's bound to be Mickey Adams mk.II?

If we have the same players as last year then I expect turgid filth. A few changes and I expected up-tempo, higher percentage football. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Agree Alf.. Not Hoofball at all..move the ball quickly,passing the ball,but not over passing..good on the counter and good running through the midfield and using the width of the pitch...ok,some dodgy defending at times..Some good Free kick routines I've see aswell.

Love the tendency to press very high up the pitch, putting defenders directly under pressure. Already found two games in which they've forced errors leading to goals.

It may take a bit of time for the Wilder gameplan to come about to its finished article state, but looking forward to much more energy & intensity (without abandoning football principles - which as Leicester & Spurs have shown, certainly doesn't need to be done).

Yeh but not since about 2003 to 2006! They come back and win too. Not sure how many times we came back and then lost this season, but feels like a lot

Amazing, looking at a few of the clips, why they seem to rate him so highly.

The mistake he makes on Stevenage's second goal - George Long would have been burnt at the stake for it!

Really hope so, but not sure. Wilder seemed to have a first part-season at Northampton like Clough's first here, taking relegation fodder storming up the league. Then a season of "transition". Then his stellar season last time out.

And these "better players"? - hhmmmm...

Hopefully having a re-energised fanbase fully behind him will help his remoulding come about quicker than otherwise though.

They they look all about work rate,moving the ball quickly and the ability to outrun the opposition..I think he'll need to bring in a few players before we see that from United...we're definately short on mobilty and fitness.

My expectations would revolve around passion, commitment, energy and effort. That's not code for hoof ball, but to be frank, "silky skills" are not high on the priority list. I don't expect division 3 players to set the world alight, but if he can get the players we already have firing, bring in some new blood, add a sprinkling of youngsters, then we have to be in with a shout.

Chris always took it down, stepped inside and found a midfielder with a pass.

The bench were always bollocking him for it.
