Our BladeyBlade a hoofer?

Chris always took it down, stepped inside and found a midfielder with a pass.

The bench were always bollocking him for it.

Indeed, when I first saw him play, I thought he was trying to model himself on Len Badger. Similar style, but not quite up to the standard of Len, but we haven't had anyone of that standard since.

I'll always associate Northampton Town with J96...

I'll always associate Northampton Town being the same as us in that they shared their old ground with Northamptonshire Cricket Club. They were 'posher' than us - they used to put up a cardboard stand on the cricket pitch.

More Blue Peter than State of the Art.

By any means necessary to get the fuck out of this league .
I've already predicted 100 points, 100 goals . But I have for the last 5 seasons .
Remember where you saw it first .
36 1-0 wins
Rest 0-0 draws will do me .

In the four clips provided by the OP, Cobblers conceded 8 goals. So I am hoping for exciting, pulsating, open football, lot's of goals with a "we'll always score more than you" attitude. No more dreary 1-0 losses to Bury on a miserable Tuesday evening. Nothing less will do.

(Promotion with the lowest points total on record with a GD of 1, that'll do as well)

Hopefully we have seen the end of the painfully slow and pointless sideways and backwards passing seen under both Adkins and Clough. It generally ended with us giving the ball away in a dangerous position and the opposition having an attempt on our goal.

I don't give a shit what style we play as long as we get the fuck out of this league.

As I've explained on countless occasions, it doesn't work like that. History proves, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that pass and move is the way to play football. It wins points, matches, leagues and trophies. Not only is it infinitely better to watch than the ale house crap so beloved by the S2 intelligentsia, it is also infinitely more likely to deliver success.

If Hoof was the best way to play, Barca, Real, Brazil et al would play Hoof. They didn't; they don't; they won't.

The argument was won and lost decades ago. Dave and the Dinosaurs were defeated. Only in deepest, darkest s2 is it even a talking point.

I despair. I despair continuously....

Think we had better stick with George after watching those clips.

Really? You could make a Scorsese length blockbuster with clips of Calamity George.

Don't want Smith though. A keeper less than six-foot tall? No thanks. Before anyone says "Hodgkinson", the great man played in a different era where the outfield players were not today's giants.

Why would anyone say Hodgkinson? Unless it was to contrast Hodgkinson a realitvely short keeper with the 6'4" Adam Smith of Northampton?

Stating the obvious any video clips that show only goals will not show keepers at their best, but having said that the keeping of all the teams in the clips didn't look the best.

It's funny though, Pinch, isn't it? - that despite his excellent BladeyBlade credentials, our Chris really doesn't seem to be a hoofer after all?

It seems as though McCabe wasn't bullshitting in saying "Chris is a modern manager".

Well mate, we'll see before long. He certainly wasn't as a player, as I've been one of the first to point out. Perhaps I'm over-sensitive about the Bassett connection. It really is time for his influence over our club to cease. He was the right man at the right time but that time has long gone.

Having seen the footage of Northampton I'm a little more optimistic than previously but I'm not letting off any fireworks just yet.

I'm not sure about the Sharp decision. That's a bit too Bladey for comfort. I would have preferred him to say that next year's captain is not at the club yet. He's one of the big dominant centre-backs I'm going to bring in to replace the softies and bomb scares we have at present or the midfield general I'm going to recruit to control the game.

The player profile bit in NT website has him down at 5-11. I would have thought they might know better than Wiki?

Truth be told, I've never fucking heard of him, let alone measured him.... :)

I have scoured the National Trust website and can find no mention of Adam Smith.

However entry to the park and gardens for Florence Court can be had for 6 quid and a stag Red deer stands around 120cm at the shoulder if that helps. o_O

Tend to agree with you on the captaincy issue. Like you, I'd much rather a no-nonsense centre half as captain - a new one, out of necessity!

But, to use a bit of an Adkinsism, we're going to need multiple leaders on the pitch I suppose. The lack of leadership & personal responsibility over this last season (& the one before) has been truly shocking. And Wilder's definitely going to need to inject new characters to do this: leadership won't be coming from any existing personnel, bar Billy.

6'4 should be about right.
