Hardly the universal out pouring of love you'd hope for.

Particularly worried about the "The highest he could get us on a decent budget was 8th".

Particularly depressed about Northampton now classing us a rival.

Here's hoping the poor sod is an instant success for our club, for everyone's sake.

The Northampton fans comments seem very favourable to Wilder?

Did you ask them if they think he can get us promoted in one season?

I feel a bit shit for the Northampton fans to be honest.

To lose a bloke who took them from near-extinction to runaway title winners has to hurt. And now they face a new season in a higher league and must find a manager who can hit the ground running from the outset.

And they've accepted todays news very graciously. The comments I've seen on Twitter and Facebook have been mostly positive, wishing him all best and in some cases, even us.

Thing is Watford views on Bassett were unfavourable, Bury fans on Warnock as well, it's what Wilder does with us that matters. This is his dream job really.

For him , the board , Fans , it will either be the dream or nightmare job . Blokes done nowt yet . Let's give him a chance and see how he goes . He ain't the messiah or miracle man .

Adkins is after a job.

Ho Hum.

Let's see what happens but I wasn't expecting promotion before the appointment and I am not expecting it since.

After Sunday I realised Adkins had to go, not for the interview, but for the fans apathy. I wish Wilder every success, but a part of me thinks the regular comments of "how can we be playing the likes of Fleetwood, Bury and Crewe". Our new manager hasn't got a great deal of experience of this level of football.

I did read on the Northampton forums earlier that apparently there is a bunch of Oxford fans that basically follow Wilder around and slag him off, no matter what he's doing. Sound like utter cunts. The Northampton fans do seem pretty decent though, and I actually hope they get someone decent in and have a good season.

Oxford fans aren't going to be singing his praises though. He left them for a division rival and then beat them to a title. We'd be branding him a twat too. Think/hope their comments are driven more by bitterness at his departure than his performance.

Northampton fans took the news with a lot of grace.

Good luck Northampton, I actually feel a little guilty that we have poached their man, just as I would have felt hacked off if anyone had poached one of our really successful managers (wow, that was a while ago). Kind comment from them towards him and us, good luck to you.

By the sounds of it though, they gave him a lot of shit when he was their Manager as well, and I've seen nothing that said he did terribly.

Edit: I meant Oxford fans gave him a lot of shit.

The Northampton fans weren't happy about him joining Charlton, they saw it as at best a small step up.

They all said from the beginning if he leaves their club it should only be for a decent sized Championship club or his boyhood club Sheffield United.

Now he's joined us they are not surprised and seemed genuinely pleased for him.

All I got from that was, Northampton fans are class and realists.... Oxford fans are arseholes.
well we get the chance to shut them up about it this coming season at least although given that he left them for a division rival and then took them on to win the league with oxford in second i can understand where they are coming from but he's managing his boyhood club best of luck to him, we just need to get behind him and back him all the way

Fortunately we won't be playing Crewe after they outclassed us at Gresty Road in one of the most spineless, useless and clueless Blades performances I've seen in 50 years.

Look forward to playing Oxford next season! They seem to like him! I did think it seemed a strange move to Northampton but I don't know the reasons there and it certainly worked out! I just feel this is the right appointment at the right time. He seems to have done well wherever he's gone.

wow Oxford fans really dislike him some harsh comments. It makes warnock looked loved by Wednesday in comparison. Will make the Oxford games interesting
