Hurry up Betfair and get the market up because I promise I'm going to make a shitload off our failure this time.

Should be a nice and short 2/1 - 5/2 lay for promotion too. Can't wait to pile into it. Would obviously prefer United to have a good enough summer to convince me not to bother, but....

after the success of Leicester City this year I'm just scouting round for any team with odds of 5000/1 as feel I'm missing out somehow

I fancy Peterborough next season to be right up there. There main problem is selling top assets in the JTW. Sound familiar?! If they get a decent manager they'll be up there. Can't see any of the relegated teams been automatic, but Charlton have a decent squad.

I can't believe we're favourites at this moment in time! I'll feel a lot better when I know a few of this squad are released! I can't wait for the retain list to be out. I really wish I could have a word with Connor Sammon right now! I thought the very least he would do was run! He can't even do that!

Steve Evans is rumored to be on his way there.

Can't see it anywhere?

If Bolton are that short I'll have some of that as well.

Cheers. Can't lay that though.

Typical of the modern Betfair to open the market on 'sportsbook' but not bother to open it on the exchange.

Can't believe they have us and Bolton that short.

Us as the bookies favourites AGAIN is madness. We finished 11th. 21 points off Wigan. How are we even close to winning it next season. 6th right now would be a big step forward.

Charlton at 14/1, tho. Printing money.

Bear in mind there's still three of Walsall, Bradford, Millwall and Barnsley to add. I wouldn't expect Walsall to be shortest odds but the other three would probably be up there.
Whether the odds are what they are because of the bets that people have already placed, or because they've been set by the bookies independently, either the punters are crazy, or the bookies are.
Five years in a row we've confounded the bookmakers, and I see nothing to change that pattern next season.

My expectations for next season are pretty low, hence I'm looking forward to it the least I've looked forward to a season in years. Being the favourites for the title doesn't change that.

We've got lots of supporters who'll lump on anyway and there will still be a few casual supporter/gamblers who just see the big name and assume we'll do well.

Every bloody year in this miserable division we've been tipped to go up. Our next manager should be someone from Bet 365, Ladbrokes or William Hill if they think it's that fucking easy. They can't make much more of a pig's ear of it.

I cannot understand these bookies, I doubt we will finish top half.

I believe we been favs for last 2/3 season's. ........the bookies rarely get it wrong but they obviously dont know our relationship with the footy gods

Bookies will always make us favourites:

Which club is likely to have most money lumped on in this division?

If they win are we going to get fleeced?

Make them short-odds favourites, to cover ourselves. IF the punters lump on and they're shit, we're still quids in.

It seems it also has to be explained every season that bookies odds aren't necessarily based on who they think is most likely to win, but who they know will receive the most bets.

With our large fan base who, throughout each summer, keeps on getting fooled into thinking 'this is the season' (myself included) - Sheffield United probably have the most bets on them to win the league. That coupled with people who don't support the Blades looking at us as a club that's larger than the league it's in, it creates a large amount of bets on Sheffield United to win League 1.

...therefore the bookies put the price down.

SouthEssexBlade - you beat me to it by 1 minute!

No matter what the odds are, I wouldn't be putting any bets on until we've seen what sort of squads are going to be playing in our league next season, there is still a long way to go until we will have any idea really.

I work for Sky Bet, but I'd rather carry on than manage us, I don't like to be hated :(

Yeah. It comes to something when working for Murdoch and fleecing punters makes you more popular than being the manager at SUFC ;)
