Incredible memory Silent
was about to say the same thing. It's also a long time since united tried new ideas at set pieces. There was the tonge/beatie play acting and before that it was the corner routine Bassett deployed where Agana would come short and then lay it off to the corner taker again. Would love someone to post a video of that. I remember they scored from it in the 2-2 draw at Molineux when we both went up

Walthamstow Blade posted the 1988-89 season review on here a few weeks ago - it would have been on there :)

It's near the end at around 48 mins or so ......

First time it was tried was in the FA Cup 5th Round at Norwich in 1989 when the score at the time was 1-1. Marin Pike took a corner from the right, played a short ball to Agana who turned and then backheeling it back to Pike who whacked it acroos the box just missing the heads of Deano and Booker. The first success was in the Wolves match you mentioned (Roberts-Agana- Roberts and headed in by Stancliffe seen in the below video at 1.48).

Another one was the TC corner straight to Woody who volleyed the ball in from outside the box (happened 4 times in the 1973-74 season)

This season, at a home game, one of the opposition teams has had the temerity to try the Bassett short corner routine against United. Not sure which match is was, but it was at the John Street Bramall Lane corner.

It didn't work as it happened, but it was close to success.

There must be loads of routines from previous years that could be adapted.

It became known as the Spurs corner, Andreron used to cross it in for Sherringham. No one cared we'd done it 5yrs earlier.
