I don't agree with the sacking (unless the comments about him losing all the players is correct) but whichever ay you look at it we've had a poor season. I'd argue he'd been hamstrung with a boated squad of wankers, and done well to shift so many out, but his tactics and increasingly ridiculous press conferences have been poor. In terms of recruitment, he's clearly been let down and overall we've made more than we've spent.

Anyway, after our worst season in decades, and with the prospect of Wilder having to sell to spend and having to keep several of these c*nts, I currently have no enthusiasm for our future. Any planning by NA has now been utterly wasted. We suffered from this last season when NC got the boot and we're likely to suffer from it again.

We're back to square one with less resources to get out of it. I personally believe we're as likely to get relegated as promoted as things stand. Signings may change this but we seem to be stuck with most of the utter twats we've had this season. Maybe joined by the dickhead Evans to the delight of the yobs.

Another year of shit whilst our neighbours look a good bet to get up. Depressing.

Today feels like my lowest point as a Blade.

I'd have less enthusiasm with Adkins in charge, we have a better chance with Wilder. I couldn't bare another season with him in charge.

luckily we won't be selling our best player this summer - sharp won't be going anywhere and Brayford will be injured. We don't have any others to sell!

Maybe that will be a blessing, wilder can go about building a team without any last minute disruptions and sales in August. First time that will have happened in years.

Don't under estimate the effect a manager can have.
I'll give some examples.

In the late 80's and early 90's we played a fast direct long ball style of game.
Then we appoint Howard Kendall and overnight with the same players we become a cultured passing team.

Rotherham have been poor this season and heading for relegation due to poor players.
Warnock joins, doesn't spend a penny and the same players all a sudden look good and beat loads of teams.

Last season our team lacked tactics ,effort and motivation and that is the managers fault.

What I'm saying is that even with the same set of players there's a chance there could be a big improvement.

It's a new start and I'm looking forward to see what happens. No one knows.

Robson> Blackwell was a positive change. In his first 12 months we were impressive under Bkackwell playing a fast direct Warnock style.

Adams> Wilson was a positive change. We played our best football in the last 8 years under Wilson. Remember the chants "it's just like watching Brazil". However yet again Wilson was great for only 12 months then went defensive and negative.

Weir> Clough was a positive change. The players had orgsnisation and a team spirit was built up. We moved up the table and had some great cup runs playing a counter attacking style.

The fact is NA took the club backwards. Many players became worse and the new players he brought in on big wages looked ordinary. Another important factor is that NA was too slick and postive and never won over the fans.

So I can understand why a change has taken place and Wilder has some good credentials.
Surely by the law of averages we're going to get some luck when choosing a manger?

The board for once have done an inspired bit of business. They have acted quickley to get rid of Adkins, when they have become aware of other clubs looking to appoint Wilder. They have acted with purpose and beaten of Charlton and possibly other clubs such as Blackburn, to land a manger who they would have missed out on, if they had not acted with such purpose.
They have learnt from their previous mistake of allowing Clough to do the retained list, before getting rid of him. Wilder will now have the chance to do the retained list and then put together his own team.
I'm the first to slag off the board when its justified, but this time they have been inspired. It would have been easy and cheap to keep Adkins, but they have for once got it right. Job well done I say.

Totally agree with regards the rapid dismissal of Adkins and rapid appointment of Wilder.

However, the early signs about the budget are not good. And if what has been said about the retained list turns out to be true, we'll be off on the wrong footing straight away.

Its clear that whether the manager was Adkins, Wilder or another next season, they would have to put together team while working under the constraints of a reduced budget. Wilder has proved at Northampton that he can still achieve promotion, despite a restricted budget.
Adkins appeared to have run out ideas and his signings and all round performance proved that he was the wrong man for the job. I have more confidence in Wilder being able to put a promotion team together under the budget constraints, than Adkins.
From what I've heard Wilder say regarding the retained list, he states that some players may stay that some thought would leave and others may depart. It was inevtable that he would elect to keep some players that some dont like and release others that some do . I just hope that Freeman, Scougall and McNulty are brought back into the fold.

Wilder will be taking over at an extremely opportune moment with the volume of highly paid out of contract players. He'll be able to shape a squad, dressing room and style of play of his own choosing - something his predecessor never had the chance to do. In light of this a top two finish should be the expectation. Lets hope he can deliver.

Same was said by many on different boards about Clough.
Now we're saying the same about Adkins.

The two components that haven't changed a great deal, albeit a couple of successful deals from NA.

Tbf, most people are just trying to look on the bright side, to find positives after another shitastrophic season. Wilder may take us up, he may take us down but he won't take us anywhere til next season so we might as well enjoy the summer and hope he turns out to be decent.

To be honest the last few days have restored a bit of hope if not expectation. Adkins 12 months has been a bit of a disaster really and not all of it his fault. By the end though he really had lost it and the press work after Scunthorpe sounded like a man who wanted sacking.

The new manager has one massive advantage in that the list below is players we have paid this season who currently won't be on the wage bill when the summer contracts expiry hits.

players who's contracts expire (I count 11)

Long, Harris, J Wallace, Flynn, Baxter, McEverley, Campbell-Ryce, Kennedy (already gone), McFadzean, McGhay, Cuvelier.

Loan players going back (4)
Hammond, Sammon, Edgar, Baptiste

Others who've already gone (who's wages we may have continued to subsidise) (4)
Collins, Alcock, Higdon, Dimaio

So that 19 chunks of wages (some of them significant) that we have freed up.

He's currently got 15 contracted players of whom 3 or 4 are regular 1st teamers, 8 or 9 will make decent league 1 squad players and 2 or 3 will need moving on.

So he needs to 10 or 11 players of whom 7 or 8 need to be 1st team players. |I'd say of those out of contract only Long, Flynn, Flo and McGahay should be considered, leaving him the job of finding 6 1st team players for league 1.
