___________Long
Brayford Wilson O Connell Hussey
______Basham___Fleck_______
Duffy________Clarke______Done
____________Sharp___________

Subs:- Ramsdale, Wright, Whiteman, Scougall, Calvert-Lewin, Adams, McNulty

I'd take that opening line up SB

Clarke at number 10?? If Clarke is going to play, it has to be up front. Having said that, fleck and Basham aren't good enough to play in a midfield 2.... Hence the need to sign a better CM, If we intend to play Sharp and Clarke together.

Brayford---Wilson-O Connell-- Hussey

Duffy--------Basham--Fleck----K. Wallace*

Subs:

Ramsdale

Calvert Lewin

* I'd like to see Adams in the wide left position but have gone for Wallace for 2 reasons.

1. Not convinced Adams' head will be right given his likely imminent departure.
2. Bolton are a big physical team and Wallace will help us defend at set pieces.

Have we not played 4-2-3-1 throughout most of pre-season? (Even since Clarke arrived).
I don't see much point in doing that and then switching to 4-4-2 when the real action starts.

We don't currently have any specialist left wingers.
Adams is probably the best in that position and is likely to be sold soon (maybe even before Saturday?)
When he's sold it will require more tactical changes, while we have a few players who could play left sided forward in a 4-2-3-1.

On latest Radio Sheff interview, CW says we played a game at Barnsley involving those not likely to start on Saturday and Che scored.

I think the OP will be correct.

Can't be starting Adams on Saturday.

We're a bit light in central midfield, Bolton are stronger than us physically and we need all the work rate we can get to try and make up for it. We also have a suspect defence and can't afford to expose it, and that's what we'd be doing if Adams played in addition to two strikers. So Done should start on the left.

How do you expect Bolton to line up? Are they a 433/451 type of team or what? Only saw brief highlights of them last season and obviously with Parkie they might have changed anyway.

It'll be nice to get back to some proper competitive football so we can see what the new players are actually like under pressure.

I've been really looking forward to this season, feeling confident we can be there or thereabouts at the top. However when I see the likely team on paper it just doesn't look anywhere near good enough.
It still needs at least two additions, but where they come from, I have no idea.

Parkinson's usually 4-4-2. He'll always play with a target man, and Clough will always start for Bolton. They usually played one main striker last season I think.

This would be my guess. Not sure about the midfielders, they've got a lot to choose from.

Amos

Wilson Wheater Beevers Moxey

Taylor Pratley Spearing Davies

Madine Clough

Be interesting to see how we line up then. Do we go 442 and match them or play five in midfield to stifle them. From what CW has said and the reports from the friendlies from those sober enough to see what was going on, I'd expect a bit of fluidity, with players dropping back when we're out of possession but getting quickly forward when we have the ball. Maybe something like a 4411 with the hole player dropping into CM and then joining the attack to make second striker when we've regained possession.

Something like that anyway.

This..but Done for Adams, (who wont be in the squad)

Looking at everyones's teams I think we are going to get over run and out powered in midfield. We desperately need a big, mobile, strong central midfielder.
Someone like Jose Semedo? A player who won't get a game this season, we could easily loan him then not worry about setting him on next season, if we're promoted.

For me anyway:

Long
Brayford - Wilson - O'Connell - Hussey
Duffy - Basham - Fleck - Adams
Clarke - Sharp

Still need some depth and a centre half but it's a good starting point...

know body from this 11 will start at Bolton says CW as they played Barnsley behind closed doors on Tuesday.

Rams dale, Freeman, Semple, J Wright, K Wallace, Whiteman, Reed, Adams, Scougal, McNulty, Woolford.

Won 3 1
