Your proudest moment of being a Blade.

Mine has got to be walking up Herries Road after smashing W*dnesday 3 - 1 thanks to the inspired signing of Bobby Bobby Bobby Davison.

When my eldest son was born. I was the secretary of the HQ branch of the supporters club and I took the membership book and two membership cards into the delivery room with me. The second he popped out I signed off his membership to make him the youngest supporter ever and that record can't be beaten. :)

Midwives weren't impressed, that I did that and then asked if he was ok!

Porterfield then signed his junior Blades membership card, and no before anyone asks he wasn't in the delivery room that was in the car park the next morning.

The moment which immediately sprang to mind was Wembley when Hull's fifth went in. That most amazing moment when every Blade simultaneously stood up and applauded our lads. It just summed up the love we Blades feel for our players when they give their all. Lots of other great moments, but none that made me feel as proud.

100% agree... you could see the look of bemusement on the Hull players faces and the pride in ours. Everything being a blade is about.

Coventry in the FA Cup Quarter - Holdsworth took it to penalties and for once we beat them.

Charlton FA Cup under Clough - the sheer noise coming from the stands. I distinctly remember a midfielder for them misplacing a pass for which he received a bollocking from a team mate. He just turned around and gestured the I can’t hear you back at him. That made me really proud of our fans.

Middlesborough at home Premier League - that strike from Jags for our first win and the feeling it would be our launch pad for the season which it was for 2/3rds.

Not been to too many games since I left Sheffield get up a couple of times a season and (don't hate me) spawned tickets for the Sheffield semi final at Wembley.
I'd just started taking my oldest daughter to games (fiH just looked it up it was 2002) so she was 6, she'd been to a couple of games and really enjoyed them.
Anyway I came home from work one day and my missus said they were talking about football at school and she was the only Sheffield United fan but wouldn't change her allegiance when the other kids were trying to tell her to support Man Utd, Liverpool, Chelsea and Lincoln City.

Following on from GCB's most influential decade of being a Blade. This thread got me feeling all Bladey, Blade & got me thinking about those moments that gave me that warm fuzzy feeling of "thank god I'm a Blade".

Mine was the Cup semi against Hull. Separated by an entire division, we were huge under dogs. A crack pot team who were on the verge of relegation from England's 3rd division, bottom of the division after 10 games and well known short comings at Wembley. The turnaround shown that season was nothing short of a miracle. Before that game even kicked off, listening the the near 40,000 Unitedites belting out the GCB put a lump in my throat. It was a huge occasion. I'd never seen United score a goal at Wembley before that day... 19 minutes in, Jose Baxter steps up and fires United into the lead. Queue mass hysteria in the United end. Nearly 40,000 people lose their minds in the captial.

The game ultimately ended in defeat, but that didn't matter to me. My side went on to score 3 goals against a Premier League team. I'd been to watch United play in play off finals against Crystal Palace, Wolves, Burnley and Huddersfield and barely turn up in any of them. This was different. It was the first time I'd seen my team turn up in a big game and fucking take it to the opposition. We had no right to be in that game looking at the quality of the players on show, but my god they did me proud that day.

I was Michael Tonge's PE teacher in Leigh near Wigan. He was always at Manchester United since he arrived at the school. He switched to the Blades as a 16 year old. I saw him play a few youth team matches for the Blades and I have to say I was quite proud that a student of mine was playing for my beloved Blades.

However as I thought, it just got better and his debut against Milwall was impressive as he ran them ragged. I suppose it doesn't get any better than the two goals in the last 20 mins against Liverpool in the cup semi final, particularly when he ran over to the south stand where his family were sat.

Robbed at Anfield when Liverpool should have been down to 10 men for a foul by their keeper outside the box denied a goal scoring opportunity but thats never going to happen.

Worst moment- too many to mention but Walsall and that last minute penalty is right up there!

There is also the story about the Blade who took his 2 year old to nursery every morning and passed the sty every day on his way. As he approached the ground he would always shout out "Pigs" as he drove passed. Then one morning as he was on his way to nursery and about to wind the window down to give his daily insult a little voice from the back shouted "Pigs" Now if that was my son it really would bring a lump to my throat and be one of my proudest moments. However I have 3 girls and live in Warrington so as much as I have tried (numerous trips to the Lane, Burnley play of final etc) they are just not into football, grrrrr.

Plenty of new candidates for 'proudest Blades moment'. It wasn't a moment I know but being unbeaten in the league against Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham and Wolves last year is definitely something to be proud of.

I've had many proud moments as a Blade. If I had to choose -- leaving Hillsborough after the 3.1 win in 1992. The pigs back then were arrogant as fuck (so whats new?) All I'd heard at work, and more or less everywhere was how they were going to smash us and put us back in our place.

Well we know how that ended up! We put them firmly in their place, both on and off the pitch! 💪💪

Many a proud moment as a blade , Norwich fa cup , hull fa cup , Leicester , Darlington ,Northampton etc etc etc but two for me really stand out , but 1 that has only meant more to me as life has gone bye and both for differing reasons , first 2-0 against the pigs under Bassett the first time I had seen us beat them bastards in a proper match after the disappointment of Boxing Day and Easter only drawing , at the end of the match I just stood in the middle of the kop on my seat arms up in the air and cried was the best feeling ever , the second was Birmingham away 0-0 when we missed out on Europe , nothing to do with the match but just the memory of my dad walking into my school class and saying I've come to pick up our NBM , teacher then saying why , my dad then saying cos were all off to Birmingham to watch utd and me as an 8 yr old strolling out with a smile on my face as wide as the wicker arches ⚔⚔⚔ God I loved my dad

Started watching them in 1970 when I was 9 - used to go to the Lane on a coach from the Roland Arms at Aston and stand on the John Street Terrace
50 years later and seeing them on over 150 grounds there has been some proud moments that will stay with me until my last breath - Leicester away probably being my proudest watching my beloved team.

However, the proudest occurred in 1991, when having had 2 wonderful daughters, I was gifted a son that I had dreamed of to hopefully enjoy the same love affair with them that I had enjoyed - following his birth at the Northern General, I drove straight down to the Lane and registered him as a 'Junior Blade' some 35 minutes after he was born.

My late father-in-law, a wonderful Glaswegian man and converted Blade, had this glass Tankard (see pic) engraved with his name on the front and 'The Youngest Blade To date' on the rear.

Its takes pride of place in my 'special cabinet' and more importantly, he has grown to have the same love affair with them. Priceless

The defeat at Wembley to Hull was my moment too. For all the reasons you've mentioned.

It’s easy to think of glorious moments when we’ve tasted victory. But to feel like that when we’ve lost is a rare thing.

Reminds me of that poem “If” by Rudyard Kipling, when he speaks of treating Triumph and Disaster as one and the same, both as imposters.

What matters is how you did it, more than what happened in the end.

Bert took a video at half time on the Wembley concourse. One of the happiest times he's ever seen Unitedites. Singing, shouting and generally going bonkers.

In his wisdom he somehow deleted it.

Anyone have a similar one?

Watching us win the FA cup in 1925 against Cardiff City..
It took us 14 hours on the Charabanc to get to Wembley
I remember we rushed home in 13 hrs 23 minutes to watch Match o' t'day presented by Herbert Chapman
There were some lovely words from Dixie Dean who was the expert summariser.

When the one great scorer comes to write against your name, he marks not that you won or lost but how you played the game.

Running out across pitch before the players first game of season in 4th Division campaign vs Hereford to the cheering Blades masses , it was the my first time I ballboyed the first team and it felt like you were one of the players , incredibly proud , exciting and emotional moment & something i’ll never forget . I was fortunate enough to ball boy on a few more occasions over the next couple of years including the the European u21 final , great times & I consider myself a very very lucky lad to have had the opportunity ⚔

Grimsby away in 2002 when my four year old eldest son came to his first game with me. We lost but couldn’t care less because he loved it. We walked up hand in hand with him in his Blades hat and scarf. Sat amongst mad away Blades following he talked about nothing else for weeks.
Can’t top those feelings!
