I asked this question way back in August 2005 in one of the first threads on this forum and look where a bit of optimism got us... only bloody promoted!

Of course, this season is a bit of an unknown - largely the same team but a new manager and I think my optimism this year is somewhat tempered by that.

I am however, probably looking forward to this season more than last. We knew last season was going to be a struggle and that seemed to take the fun out of the matches. But the trips to shittips are back with a vengeance and you never know, we might win a few away! Plus there'll be less fucktards around who come to see "Premiership Football" and not "Sheffield United". I'm not saying there won't be any, just less.

Roll on next weekend!

I'm quite optimistic about this season, I expect us to be top 6 come the end of the season and I think we will do it with the players we're bringing in.

I'm looking forward to going to away matches again this season, 6 new grounds for me :D

Plus... last season's away games weren't as good for me, at times I felt like it was a waste of time going. And constantly having to listen to the idiots who weren't here the season before constantly moaning about how we should be top 8 or whatever

Roll on Ipswich on a Tuesday night where there'll be 600 of us again!

Here's to a good season ahead

I expect champions with no goals conceded and winning every game :D

I'm feeling relatively upbeat, even with Robson's cold hand of footballing death upon our shoulders;). Looking forward to it all, actually.

Aye, think it's six new ones for me too.

Lost Gay Meadow the other day though :(

quite confident should definatley be top 6 and pushing for automatic

PLEASE DONT GET RID OF HULSE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!!!

i hope to be in the top 2 or in sight of the top 2 at christmas and go for a big push to get first or seccond. we have the players. just how well they are with the manager....

playoffs at the least!

It seems Robbo has put everyhting in place for a good season, to be fair only top two will be good enough for me. Looking at our squad I think that this should be achievable and with a bit of luck on our side,( bad luck can't last forever after all can it?)it should see us promoted.

I'm really looking forward to it, new management, half decent refs, no plastic fans, no money orintated teams, good atmosphere, win more games and lots of fun away days.

Everything is up in the air I dont really know how we will do with the change of management, but one thing for sure is that Robson is attacting bigger names to the club, even if some were only rumoured it still all looks alot more positive than it did with Warnock.

I just have a feeling that a lot of fans think we are guarenteed promotion and I really hope that if and when we hit a bad patch fans dont turn on the team and Robson.

I'm hope we get off to a good start with a few big wins, just to let other teams know what we are back to put up a big fight.

I'm sure Sharpy's got a similar level of optimism, although I doubt his is as tongue-in-cheek as yours ;)

Also when you look at the squad we got now to the one that got us promoted or even the one we had last season, it is so much better. I'm sure alot of defences will be worried when they see our team sheet week in week out.

Anything can happen in this league, but we have by far the strongest squad, infact I believe it's even stronger than the one we started with in the Premiership last season. If we can win the league itself, the painful memories of the way we were cheated to doom last season will be gone.

Im very confident about the coming season.

I want to be atleast 15points clear by christmas because thats always our dodgy spell:D. lol ....

Let's get promoted and thoroughly tonk the pigs in the process. There are no teams I want us to beat, apart from all of them, but the only side I will NOT condone defeat against is Wendy.

the only problem with getting promoted is being back with the cheats :(

Im feeling good and looking forward to this season.

im feeling pretty confident and think if we go on a run from the beginning the league will be ours.

Hadn't really been looking forward to the season until about now - was left too peed off about the way it all ended and the Tevez affair. Colchester didn't really grab the imagination the way the scousers did for kicking off last season! But now that it's only a week away.....can't wait. Slightly worried we may get off to a bit of a slow start as relegated clubs often seem to, with having to readjust to the Championship and bed in new players, but think we've got the squad strength to power through once winter comes. Bring it on. :D

I'm entering this season the most optimistic I've ever been about the fortune of our beloved club.

New manager, new players ('big' signings too that I don't believe NW could've made), plently of 'original' players left too so the heart of the team still remains and that's so important.

Definate top 6 finish, anything else would be failure - promotion is a must as I'm sure Mr McCabe has instilled in Robbo since day 1, and we're certainly geared up for it compared to the other clubs in with a shout of promotion.

BRING ON SATURDAY!!!!!!!!!

After seeing todays performance I'm very positive.
Some good performances and even with the season just about to start they look pretty settled and like most of them know what the others are going to do.

Thought Shelton looked like he need to either let the others know wat he's going to do or slow down a bit. He was upfront before anyone could get near him and had noone to pass to (especially when he ran around the ball :D ).

Hoping for good things this season.
