I started watchign United in 1993, so would have missed the one's you are talking about.

I've got the last few seasons shirts (mainly because my mum keeps buying them me for my birthday) but I am one of those wankers who tries to be trendy and wears the retro shirt (second attachment) to games!?

I think they sell this in the club shop now. They have a couple of retro shirts in there but they're a bit expensive

I had that shirt, the purple an yellow halves. I also had the one with the purple and green stipe on it. (Have searched in vain for a pic), with FLO and 12 on the back

Of this lot, 1992-94 but my all time favourite is 1904-06. Worst ever is easily 1979-81

Does the Midas Gold away run it close though?

I'm with ZoneMan and Mod on this. Best kit ever for me is probably 73-75 (below), but we have never looked right to me since we ditched the white socks. Historically we've probably worn black more than white, but it just doesn't seem like Sheffield United wearing black.

The deckchair one that they sell in the shop looks nothing like the original. The ones on Toffs.com are much better quality.

Am I being a stick in the mud or do they look nothing like eachother?

Me too - I remember my grandad asking why I'd got a substitute's number on my back!
