Long - dropped a Tiny Clanger for their first (although in the replay it looked like he recovered and had one hand on the ball). Earlier in the season his head might've dropped but he made good saves (like he does) and even looked in command of his box (unthinkable earlier in the season). Long's development is a major plus this season. He could easily have ended up a fragile keeper wandering the lower leagues. For now I think he's got a bright future and hopefully will develop further.

Whiteman - highly rated by Adkins, seems to be a very good passer, playing with confidence - this is where Adkins' positivity pays off.

DCL - all a bit random when he came on but someone here mentioned he played midfield for u21s(?). Looked better when he had the ball deeper. A real highlight was his Okocha(?) style step over and left foot curler. Harsh but I think he should've done better once he had worked the space. Shows confidence. Again highly rated and I think the Northampton fans rated him.

Che. Likes being on telly :-) Some very powerful runs but needs to finish. Could do with a trick or two to beat a man. I'd be coaching him some technical stuff. Looked like he tried a knuckleball free kick.

Bags of potential but there's a balance to be struck between developing these and others and getting results.

Thing is, apart from Che, they all look like they'd blow over in a gust of wind.

I think Adkins' idea was Hammond would be an invaluable role model instilling the values they need to develop their careers but it's looking increasingly like he is too limited on the pitch.

Maybe (despite everything) last night was a good advert for us as a destination for Division One youngsters, and we can get exciting loans over the summer.

So long as those nasty fans behave themselves and stop putting players off coming here, hey?
