The Sheffield United First Team aren’t the only ones planning for a cup tie at Bramall Lane this weekend, the U18 Academy side take on Everton in the FA Youth Cup on Monday night for the opportunity of a sixth round away clash against a London side.

The winners of the tie will travel to either Charlton Athletic or Arsenal, depending on the outcome of their fixture on the 21st February.

One thing sure to be on display when the young Blades entertain the Toffees is the fighting spirit and character which has been shown in abundance by Travis Binnion’s side during this years run.

All the best t'young un's!

UT( hopefully future star) Blades!

The pitch didn't cut up too badly today but there's more rain forecast tomorrow.

Might be a last minute change to the pitch at Graves Park :D

Just a bump... anyone going tonight?

I'll be there. Just wondering though, both Kennedy and Diego were on the bench yesterday does that mean they're ineligible tonight even though they never came on?

The U18's bowed out with a 2-0 loss this evening.

Here's a quick video of the Everton second:

when I saw Chelsea v Wendy on livestream (cos one of the Wendy players was 15 year old Warren Clarke who played in same school team as my son for many years also for 2 years at AFC Dronfield) it was Men against Boys. The EPPP has changed the Academy system a lot so it will now be much harder for a Category 2 or 3 Academy team to win the FA Youth Cup

I couldn't believe how big the Everton lads were. It was like an episode of Land of the Giants. It was a classy first goal and I thought their No. 2 was MOTM.

Anyone who went, what was the performance like? How was Diego looking sharpness/fitness wise?

Have to agree about the size of the Everton lads.

As far as we were concerned apart from the two centre backs the rest of our team looked like a side of under-nourished Scougalls. Having said that individual skill wise I thought we matched them particularly in the second half. We knocked the ball about well and created some good chances.

It's amazing how size at this age can be an advantage however. I think we need some sherry and raw eggs up at Shirecliffe.

They didn't really allow us to get going. Everton's captain Gethin Jones (No 2) looks a very good player and the two Duffus Brothers looked classy (9 and 10).

Diego had a very quiet game, full credit to their centre halves who were very quick and read the game well. We certainly looked better in the second half when Louie Reed came on, and if Calvert Lewin's attempt had been a foot inside the post, it could have been an interesting last 20 minutes.

Still, really enjoyed the Youth Cup run this year, apart from the flat tyre at Boundary Park in the 1st Rd, :)

As I tweeted, nothing to be ashamed of from that. I didn't think we were setup right in the first half but we looked a lot better in the second. Everton were really good and I expect to see Courtney Duffus on loan in the lower leagues next season. He's a cracking player, as were Ledson and Jones. It'll take a good side to stop either them or Fulham this year.

As has been said, I'd have fancied us to take it to extra time had we got one purely down to the momentum.

I've really enjoyed that run this season. Some cracking games and excellent drama, fingers crossed we get a long way next year too.

Enjoyed the match. The two brothers for Everton looked good. Our number 8 impressed me with his attitude and ability. They all played really well and came up against a good team.

How about on loan this season to us?
