You might have started 5 offensive players but only 1 striker and the same negative formation!

Just listened to DW's post match interview on Blades Player and am deeply saddened and slightly embarrassed to hear the same tripe that i've heard for every single game other than the Notts County one. "We were the better team" and "We dominated possession" and " Were unlucky and I can'e believe we've come away with nothing again".

He's sort of coaxed into speaking about the fact that he played 5 attacking minded players today by the questioning but his replies and mannerisms to me shows that again he feels that the team was set out correctly and we had the right forward options on the pitch.

I'm not going to whinge on again but seriously Davie boy! You can not deem that as the perfect set up, the perfect performance all round and you can't feel disheartened and feel that we totally dominated and deserved everything from it!

The calls continue Mr Weir. Luckily the arrival of a controversial Marlon King has some what deflected the attention away from you this weekend but seriously. Not good enough and I ask you again to change things or other wise I am sorry to say I do believe we need the change in the hot seat. You have the assets in the squad now so I don't think you have many more valid excuses for not utilizing them in the right way!

I know the situation is severe ......but a 16 word titled thread . .......easy fella

5 attack minded players is an improvement, but I think it's too little. If we had attack mined full backs we'd have seven, and would probably create more.

Whatever your style is, you need forward movement and forward passes to score goals.

Five is being generous considering Cuvelier's lack of invention and inability to get forwards.

Hill and McMahon's lack of support on the flanks costs us more dearly every game.

this is the problem, it is nothing to do with only playing 1 up front. if the full backs are attacking enough (which they SHOULD be able to do without too much of a problem, as in this system Doyle should sit deep enough that Collins/Maguire can spread out and cover each side should a counter-attack happen) then it allows the wide players to cut inside and get into the box (both of them), as well as your "1 striker" and whoever is playing the #10. just watch any good team, dortmund are my favourite example of this and they don't seem to have any problem scoring (heck, with piszczek out injured they're playing grosskreutz at right back, and he's a winger for crying out loud)

I really don't know how professional players earn a living as 'full backs' in the modern game when they can't even put a decent cross in. I like Hill's attitude but he is out of his depth when he crosses the half way line. Not sure at all how McMahon as played at a high level.
