Wraggs, from Sheffield, went on to match six numbers and became the sole winners of the £7.6 million

Some people say you need “£10 million to live like a millionaire today” well yes if you want to live your life like Simon Templar maybe, but this shows you can have a comfortable life and still make the world a better place for others if you are decent human beings.

I’m more concerned about people reading the Mail tbh.
I generally agree with your sentiment on this, but at least for once it has published something about the better side of humanity, and about a couple who should make all Sheffielders proud. And it is worth pointing out that a thread on this news was begun on the Forum on May 21st, so we can still dismiss the Mail as a bearer of news.

Spot on mate!

What an inspirational couple, such genuine compassion and selflessness is a very rare quality in the modern world.

Sheffield should be proud of the Wraggs and their unique generosity should be marked with a permanent plaque, so future generations can learn from their example.

RIP

I hadn’t really heard much about them until this week. Although I seem to remember them winning the lottery

But I read a piece from the star this week that the lady worked for the nhs and they decided to give most of it away to worthy causes.

Really gives hope to people when you see these sorts of things and I’m sure she’ll be missed

RIP

Thank you all once again for your kind words about my parents, it's very humbling.
Their story is truly inspiring. It is so easy to be corrupted by money, particularly as the lack of money is a source of so many difficulties, that it is moving to hear of a couple who suddenly acquired wealth using most of it to help others. The super rich of the this century (and your parents were not super-rich) are on the whole a depressing, and quite probably depressed, bunch, more interested in accumulating wealth than using it for the good of others.

Spot on.

To do the things they’ve done they were quite clearly decent people before their wealth which is why they did the things they did when they won the lottery.

A wonderful story from a good honest, salt of the earth Sheffield couple. South Yorkshire folk are solid gold and these people exemplify that. Jordo Blade. should very rightly be proud of what they've done. I'm sorry for your loss, mate. If I ever meet you or your dad, you better believe I'll be the first to buy you all a pint and give you a slap on the back.

Sorry for your loss mate.

I'm sure the majority of us get sick of reading stories of the rich and famous constantly taking from (or at least refusing to contribute towards) society. What kind of message does it send when politicians, celebrities and even royalty are playing the system and are financially rewarded for doing so? Companies worth hundreds of billions refuse to pay taxes and support the economies they are exploiting.

The majority of *BE's (OBE, MBE, etc) handed out will be awarded to people who are gaming the system and not contributing. Your parents are (not past tense!) inspirational people, and should be first in line for some sort of award.

Just an amazing story that warms the heart.

i was lucky enough to know the family before they won the lottery as they were neighbours. the best compliment that i can give them is that what Barbara and Ray went on to do what they did was genuinely NOT a shock to anyone who lived on Jordanthorpe at the time.
