A little harsh on a well meaning body of men
He was an excellent naturally gifted player who lost his way in the game. Sometimes players like that can be good coaches as they’re aware of the pitfalls that can affect young players, they know where they went wrong and can explain this to the kids and try to stop them going down the same route, and they know all the “excuses” when players don’t train hard.
But I can’t get that image out of my mind “get in the showers Danny, I can’t look at you”.
Really wanted the lad to do well at the Lane, but he seemed to be trying too hard (think Brewster).
Didn't work out for him, but most certainly not down to lack of effort on his part.
