I think that last night was a return to the season start form. I think otherwise his form has been ‘patchy’ at best, since the World Cup. Just in time for the run in

When you are the central CB in a back 3, your own “form” is very much aligned to what’s going on to your immediate left and right. John Egan can tell you all about that !

Anel was excellent last night as were Bash and JLT.

UTB

I love a bit of Anel, but let's not get carrried away.
He's a way to go before he could be classed as a regular mid table PL player.

Agreed, but the point is, he is still way off his peak, he will get there, just hope the Blades are the club he gets there with.

They were so poor, particularly Sanchez. The lack of effort he put in for the goal was embarrassing.

Dier is crap, not a good enough defender to be a decent centre half, not a good enough passer to be a decent midfielder. Anel is better at both aspects of the game - if Dier can play for as long as he has at the top level then I expect Anel to win the Ballon D'or anytime now

Anel has been fairly ordinary recently following his illness, it’s interesting watching players raise their games against the bigger teams. It leaves you thinking where was this vs Boro? Millwall? Rotherham!

We’ve seen what these players are capable of & it’s probably why we all get so frustrated when we don’t win every game

Anel had his best game for some time. There could be any number of reasons for that.
Might be more comfortable in the middle of the three.
Might be more comfortable directly man marking a number 9 rather than zonal or marking a number 10 running from deeper.
Might have just been more relaxed in a cup game.
Might have been more up for it because of the occasion and opposition.
Perhaps the excellent performances of both other CB’s made it easier.
One good thing is we don’t need to panic now if Egan isn’t available.

Sanchez was an absolute donkey on Wednesday night and Dier has been shown up many a time for not being as good as he's cracked up to be, dining out on an England free kick from years ago.

Dier's a slightly better version of Ethan Ampadu as a defence/midfield hybrid but isn't much cop at either.

Dier..played for England 😂 no wonder were shit..

In a similar way, I was thinking if Spurs wanted a swap Kane for Ndiaye, they'd have to pay a helluva lot too......and to say Kane would fetch 100 million plus😏

The biggest disappointment for me was Hueng min Son, he used to play with a huge smile and like a carefree 17-year-old on a debut
But he was full of doubt and seemed thoroughly miserable with and without the ball and seemed to dislike Richarlison immensely

Wouldn't blame him for disliking Richarlison, a diving, cheating so and so and 60 million he cost, footballs gone mad
