Just wondered what others thought about Lyle Taylor and whether you would have him back right now?

What with the additions of the likes of Sougall & Brayford we are now playing a much more attacking, direct style as opposed to what we played whilst Taylor was with us up until the new year, would this suit him better? Would he fit into this new style and score goals?.

He hasn't really set the world on fire up there. Played 8 and scored 3 goals but reading into it the fans aren't overly impressed with what he is serving them up.

There you go. He wasn't good enough before he went on loan, he isn't rated at Partick, and he won't be good enough if we got him back. The guy scored 2 goals for us all season, both in the same game! Move on, get what we can for him in the summer. We need a goalscorer, and he ain't it I'm afraid!

Got to agree. He lacks the pace we need, especially with the players we now have who can create opportunities.

By going out on loan he won't suddenly magic up an additional 20 yards of pace, because that's what we need, at least two new forwards who can make a defence work and contribute goals, whilst opening up spaces for others to exploit. Lyle just isn't capable of contributing either of these. He'll find a club, but Cloughie knows a player when he sees one, and he'll already have reached a decision about Taylor's future. Good thing our manager is a far better judge of a player than the guy he took over from.

If he wants to make it in English leagues he should have gone on loan to a league 2 club. I would not want him to be educated at our club before that happened - so No.

His chance with us should be pre-season/next season. When he comes back, he'll be playing in a better environment, under a better Manager and better players around him. If he can't stake his claim during pre-season, then move on I'm afraid.

I think he isn't as bad as we think. footie is a confidence game and he had none due to limited time and dreadful results and performances under Weir. I don't think we will ever know as i'm sure Clough doesn't rate him.

Yeah get him back in. The spell away will have done him good. As I understood it he was one for the future.

That said, he needs to fit into the system as I don't think we can build a system around him.

No.

I'm trusting Clough on this one.
He obviously saw enough to ship him out...don't think he'll be back anytime soon, if at all...

I'd like to see him back. He's young, has a good shot and has scored goals in the past as well as being pacey contrary to what was said above, so if playing well he's just what we need. I hope Clough hasn't given up on him just yet, I think playing in front of Baxter, Scougall, Murphy and Flynn he could do well. Deserves another chance in a team on the up as opposed to the short time he had in a side devoid of confidence. I don't think he played enough for anyone to make a clear judgement and in my eyes wasn't any worse than anyone else.

He's out on loan for two very good reasons:-

1. Get his wage off the accounts.
2. Give him some time on the field and maybe to re-capture his form.

In Nigel we trust!

Taylor's had a shot at League One level before at Brentford and never made it, and never seemed likely too either if you take the consensus of opinions from Bees fans. But he was a young lad then and he certainly seems to thrive in Scotland. It's conceivable that he might end up in double figures for Partick and he scored for fun at Falkirk, although questions must be asked about the standard of football.

I thought Clough was too quick to ship Taylor out, and if he can get Coady, Flynn and Murphy performing better then he may have got Lyle to be more effective. I'd be inclined to cut Taylor some slack because the service to the forward areas earlier this season was abysmal. Gut feeling says Taylor won't make it, we all hoped his cameo against Coventry would have kickstarted his season, but sadly it didn't.

The jury remains out though and unless Clough brings in 2 quality strikers in the close season I think Taylor is worth a final chance. I'd be more inclined to move on Shaun Miller and Joe Ironside, who we can say with some confidence are never going to be better than League 1 / League 2 level respectively, than Taylor who has hardly had a chance. If he fails to impress in pre-season and during the early part of the season, we could flog him before the end of the August transfer window.

It's worth remembering that Rotherham were in for Taylor in the Summer. I wonder how his career might have turned out had he gone to the Millers instead?

He has to build up some trust after ducking under a cert headed goal against Rotherham that any half decent sunday league striker would have put away.

The reality is 49 third tier apperaances and two goals, which is an appalling record for a forward. I think the jury has well and truly delivered its verdict.

The Scottish league, oustide the top 3-4 of the SPL, is no better than the English 4th tier downwards and that's Tyalor's level.

And to think we got Scougall from the Scottish championship
