....to assist us in our aims?

Silly question from my personal point of view but reading RealMcCoy's thread has reminded me how many Blades don't seem happy with the prospect in general (I appreciate tonight's game probably isn't key at all In reality).

Without checking the fixtures, let's hypothetically say we need the Pigs to beat Fulham (I know they're not playing) last match of the season for us to get in the play offs, but this means the Pigs don't go down, are there any of us on here who would prefer Fulham to get the result?

We don't do play offs anyways. Fulham - every other team - to beat pigs.

I’d much rather us concentrate on what we’re doing/finishing in the league than give a fuck about what Wednesday are doing. I’d have Wednesday beat everyone if somehow it meant we’d win the league (I know that’s not possible)

I want SWFC to lose every time they play, but I may be able to live with them winning in that scenario.

i am living with them winning at this moment, but I am goin to go to the pub sharpish before it gets swamped with the obnoxious noise of the curly tailed, trotter-footed knobs celebrating their astonishing victory over Derbycelona tonight.

The thing is, we might save the pigs with us havin to play a lot if the teams at the bottom

Are you actually for real?

Are you for real? What unitedite actually would want them to win.

We have one of, if not the, worst records in the play offs in the EFL.
Fuck that I would rather see the pigs go down, and us go for it again next season.

Just because we are in the play offs, it doesn’t mean we’d go up.
I’d rather see the scum go down and into financial ruin, with us building upon this season to go again next.

So yes. I’m for real.

In the situation posed, you'd actually rather Fulham win and deny United a play-off place than Wednesday win and United get into the play-offs?

In the situation posed I’d rather Fulham win, Wendy go down.
That leaves us to build upon this season to go again next.

As I say above we have a fuck awful record in the playoffs - probably the worst.
It is no guarantee of us making promotion whatsoever.
So I’d take the option of the pigs going down the swanny thanks very much.

I would never want them to win anything.

I suppose you must be happy with their win tonight over derby? Potential playoff rivals and all that?

I wouldn't celebrate Wednesday going down in the same way I would any United success. If it aids united then I'll play up front for them and score the winner.

But each to their own

Its funny that tonight if it wasn't for it being Wednesday I would want Derby's opponents to win and I told myself that tonight. Yet when I sure the result came in my heart still sank!

Another time was when Charlton played Wednesday in the Cup and a pigs win would guarantee a home tie against the Pigs in the quarters. Pre match I wanted a pigs win but when the match started I found myself cheering Charlton -I just could't help it! I still wanted a Pigs win tonight but it is still annoying to see them win, even when it benefits us!

No I'm not happy with it tonight but if it meant United getting in the play-offs, then I would be

I support two teams most Saturdays. The Blades obviously, and the team that is playing the Pigs on that particular day.

Up to 9.40 tonight i was an avid Rams fan. As soon as the full time whistle had gone, Derby became just another irrelevant club to me. I even become a dirty Leeds fan twice a season.

United’s success should always come before Wednesday’s failings.

United’s record in the play-offs would have absolutely no bearing on our chances in the play-offs this season. Past failings have no influence on future successes in football. The team is a completely different one to back then.

The play offs don’t guarantee promotion. Just a 50/50 chance of an expensive day out to overpriced Wembley, which has never been a good place for us when we have had to play there.

Cheers, I'm aware how football and the play-off structure works. I just get more pleasure out of United's successes than Wednesday's failures, that's all

I agree. United first.

But I stand by my point that I would never want to see them win anything.

As someone else alluded to, we should never have to rely on the pigs for anything and where we end up come the end of a season would be through our own doing

Well being connected to the Star I couldn’t be too sure of to what extent of either to be honest, but fair enough.

As stated above. United first as always but I’m not going to deny I like seeing the pigs fail either.

Ok then slightly different scenario. A Wednesday win sends United to the Premiership, a Wednesday defeat sends them down. Which would you prefer?
