Mine - arriving very late only to find my ticket wouldn't work, without a steward in sight I proceeded to take the trip to the ticket booth where they issued me with a fresh one, which also wouldn't work. Backwards and forrads from the ticketing to the turnstile, I eventually got in and watched the match. The game over I returned to my car to see a parking ticket resting nicely on the windscreen.

Bad days as a result of on field matters aside, what's yours?

Scunthorpe Away. The last relegation season.

I'm usually pretty level headed and very rarely lose my temper, but on the rare occasion it does go, it isn't a pleasant sight.

I lost it on two occasions that night. The first one was with Marcus Bent where after barely lifting a leg I gave it him with both barrels and the second one was with an over zealous car park steward after an hour of queuing to get out of the car park

From a footballing perspective the play off final in Cardiff was a pretty massive anti-climax. Same can be said for Gillingham away last season.

Personally speaking, at Stoke away (possibly the same season) some guy, who couldn't have been younger than 35, threw a brick at my head. Luckily it missed by a couple of inches and smashed on the wall behind me,but it was pretty morally represensible as I was about 14/15 at the time, and it was totally unprovoked. It didn't really dawn on me until years later that this guy could easily have killed me if he could throw straight. Wanker.

As a Blade it was Burnley in the Play Off Final...... Sat in 100 degrees heat watching a poor performance with people collapsing with heat exhaustion.

As a Scotland fan it would be the 1998 World Cup watching Scotland v Morocco. Arrived at Saint Eteinne at 9.30am for a 7.45pm Kick Off.
After a long hot day drinking, singing in the sun i only managed 6 minutes of the match before falling asleep only to be woken up as they were clearing the stadium after the match....... And as usual we lost !!

Was that the Milllwall game last season? It might explain your subsequent attendance confusion :-)

First away game at Hull, September/October 1983 aged 12.
Pi$$ed it down all day.
Lost 4-1.
Arrived 10 mins late and it was already 1-1
Hardly saw game due to crowd (Hull's highest for about 25 years at the time).
Nearly got killed when lost footing and nearly got crushed down the front.
Left with 10 minutes to go and just got to turnstile when Hull scored to make it 2-1
By time we got to the car, it was 4-1.

Play off final 2012 was pretty bad.

Big accident on the M1 meant we were stood in traffic most of the day on a boiling hot coach. Finished up drinking all the ale we had brought so had none for the way back. Arrived at 2:40 having set off at 9 am and barely had time for one pint before kick off. One of our lot who drove down with his dad didn't finish up arriving until well into extra time.

Tottenham home in our last PL season.

Had to fly 6,000 miles to see the game. Multiple delays meant it took place whilst I was sitting on the tarmac at Heathrow.

Also missed MOTD highlights - fell asleep due to jet lag.

Cardiff. Decided to travel down with my mates on the coach so drove to Sheffield the night before to get a coach departing at 7.00am. Got there at about 2.30 after the driver had heard the m4 was busy and decided to go down the Fosse Way. Like it was nineteen fucking fifty three.
Chucked three pints down and got in the ground. We all know what happened next.
Then, had to wait best part of two hours whilst waiting for the organiser to get released from the nick as he'd thought having a fight in town was a good idea. Longest, most miserable coach journey back to Sheffield ever.

Play off final at Cardiff v Wolves. Sat for what seemed hours getting away from ground surrounded by piss taking Wolves fans.

The final day against Wigan in the Premier League.

The weather was awful, the result was shite and I left the Lane feeling like we had been royally shafted by everything that had gone on that season.

Yeah, so thanks for starting this thread Barney. :(

Aye Bladesman that day was a nightmare, thought I had erased it from memory. The whole experience that day seemed surreal, especially when rhino stuck that penalty in.

I had a bad feeling before entering the ground on that day. I should have known to expect the worst.

Standing in the Forest terrace as an 11 year old watching United get beat 6-0.... Or was in 6-1... Silent will know.

I wanted to leave but my dad said, nope we're not leaving till t'end.......and we never have left until the end ever since.

My first away match was on 26.12.1979.I don't think I've ever had a worse experience since and probably never will.
Not my first but have to agree. I honestly thought we would paste them. Being an S6 lad in a family full of non attending truffle hunters it wasn't the best Xmas I ever had

So let's get this right CS. You watched 70 minutes of a 5 goal match and saw sod all? Would have been far worse if we had won 4-1. Think of it as a blessing in disguise

Swanson away in 2012. Tuesday night in November. BladeInThatcham gave me a lift to Swindon where we were due to meet Ollessendro.

That dozy git hadn't checked the traffic reports so arrived at half time. Meanwhile, faced with the choice of waiting or paying to get in we went with the latter. £50 to watch an hour of shit football.

Swindon's general manager offered to refund us for the second ticket but then reneged on that deal.

All in all it was a bit of a shambles. The only ale available in the ground was Arkells and that was the shit cherry on top of the turd cake that was my trip to Swindon.

PS: the one good thing was that Olle picked up a parking fine.

Away to Leicester to share the petrol cost my mate asked 3 fans to go with him, it was pouring down with rain & his old banger's horn had a short circuit so that every time he came to a halt we all had to get out & push, each time we got soaked.
On the way we stopped for petrol, we were all pushing like mad to bump start it but we were running out of forecourt, the driver hot the accelerator instead of the brake & the car shot straight through the car showroom window, it was massive & cost him a fortune.

Will always be play off final at old Wembley when Crystal Palace's David Hopkins curled one into top corner in injury time, no way back! Longest journey home imaginable for me and my daughter.Hopkins then got transferred to Leeds, yet another reason to despise him, think he had ginger hair too.......list is endless!

Can't remember the game but crashed at the M1/M62 roundabout on the way to the match. Sat waiting for recovery for my smashed up car listening to match on radio Sheffield and we lost! That takes some beating.

That and sitting among Blackburn fans as they stuffed us at Ewood that was pretty bad too.

6-1 I think, I was there too, with my red printed silk scarf.

Worst matchday experience for me was Play-off final verses Wolves. I really thought we just had to turn up to win it. Left the ground fuming.
