Agreed, big fan of the simplicity/ease of play of the tele! I have a US special which has great Texas dirty p/ups. Still have the Gretsch (with the filtertrons) but at the moment going through a semi hollow 335 type phase as opposed to the hollow Gretsch. Currently trying out a Hagstrom Super Viking which is surprisingly toney, esp with the coil split option. Always looking for new options though, too addictive....

Bass player myself, though not done much in recent years. Never really deviated from my Fender Precision Special in apple red, c.1980.
