Walked out of the South Stand today and got chatting to a fella who I have never seen before in my life who calmly and collectedly stated that Darius Henderson is the worse CF he has seen is 60 years at the Lane.

Now I my self could not agree with this as I have only been going for 30 years.

But in the last 30 year........ and by some margin.

My biggest fear is that we will be stuck with this buffoon as no one in their right minds is going to take him off out hands.

Goal assist apart, and credit where credit is due, every single time Henderson was involved in an attacking phase of play resulted in that phase breaking down.

Unplayable my arse.

I wouldn't be quite as harsh on him. 2 headers off target aside I would say he did ok and did a lot of the grunt work that gave Slew some space.

Based on this season I wouldn't say he's our worst forward either.

If they had any other keeper then we'd have won by a cricket score!

I think Hendo put a shift in and brought others into the game. Akinbadbuy definitely had worse games.

Very harsh assessment in my opinion. So Darius is worse than:

Laurens Ten Huevel?
Laurent D'Jaffo?
The James guy we had on load from Blackburn?
Ashley Ward?
Ian Rush? (OK, this is dodgy but he was well past it)
Marcus Bent (the second coming)

I could go on. Hendersons biggest problem is he is frustrasting to watch and probably worse to play with....but he aint the worse centre forward to pull on a Blades shirt

I didn't think Henderson was as bad as people made out. He did a lot of the donkey work again, and looked to have got a decent understanding going with Slew.

Talking of crap strikers we have got two on our books who i would say are comfortably worse than Hendo. Ched Evans and Boggy

Couldn't possibly agree with that.

Irrespective, you fancy tellin him ??

Indeed.
I trust the individuals who have continually championed the £5m emperor with no clothes noticed how an 18-year-old kid actually put more into a game than Chedwyn ever has.
Slew might not make it and he was playing against a team on the beach but his effort today showed what can be done with the right attitude and application of some basic footballing principles.

To answer your second point, I have waited many years to declare this in the hope that he won't read this. Please don't tell him I said anything :)

Ladies & Gentlemen I present to you.....

BILLY WHITEHURST!

So true! Wanted to mention him too.

It was getting the basics kind of right that impressed me most today.

Ask jordan Slew if he would have rather played alongside Henderson Evans or Bogdanovic today.

This is what Henderson did today to upset all the football experts at the Lane:-

First-off Adams subbed Willo for Kozluk.
Soon after Hendo was caught offside (seem to remember a certain Keith Edwards getting caught offside numerous times).
Then put in a poor cross and biggest crime of the lot didn't show for one header (seem to remember hark-angel Beattie made a career at the Lane not showing for headers or any other kind of challanges for that matter).

There have been far worse strikers at the Lane than Hendo over the last 2 years nevermind the last 60. At the minute unless Hendo puts in a near perfect performance that lot at the Lane will be getting on his back.

Hendo's done alright today and set up the winner for Slew late on - a good decision by Adams to keep him on.

The worst striker I have seen at Bramall Lane is Paul Williams. Truly dreadful. I heard that Bobby Gould once signed him for West Brom by mistake, thinking he was another Paul Williams.

Got to say that I think Adams has sort of sorted Hendo, less free kicks, not in a battle all match but it does take something away from his game.

So the conclusion is that he's not the worst centre forward in the last 60 yrs at the Lane then. That's good then. Still should have scored.

Good shout with Paul Williams.

My opinion is the worst of the lot in my lifetime of watching the Blades, is another one of the current crop.

I give you Daniel Bogdanovic. He is lightweight, lazy, often look disinterested, and he is most likely to offer a attacking threat by going down in the box to win penalties.

Henderson for me is an easy target for people to get on his back. He might be injury prone, have a poor injury record, but he has scored a fair few goals for us, and a lot of his game is to pull defenders all over, and use that to create space for others. People are rightly appualding Jordan Slew's performance, but it was Henderson who had the defenders attention and created the space for Slew to hammer in that volley.

Nowhere near the worst we've had and an easy target for people at the minute

Worst thing he's done, and most unforgivable for me, is going out on the town drinking champagne the same day he missed several sitters against Middlesbrough

Wooh, let's all jump on the defensive for a neanderthal footballer. Henderson isn't the worst striker we've had, but he certainly isn't the best. He's a lazy sod who gives too many free kicks away, misses too many chances, and looks for most of the time as though he's playing for no one but himself.

Think the underlying point is that whether he's the worst or not, we need better.

So you have never underperformed at work and gone out on the piss afterwards.......?

Not sticking up for Hendo, he's nowt but a cart-horse.

Understand what you're saying but my role in life and his are very different though Torrix

If I'd had a stinker as a pro footballer in the public eye on 20k or so a week (who'd done not a lot all year to earn that) and effectively seen my employers survival chances gone I'd certainly be avoiding going out on the piss when my club captain has just said we'll all live like nuns to help the club survive.... Just disrespectful in my eyes that some of them chose to go out

Henderson isn't nearly as bad as is being made out by some. His problem is that he represents the problems we've set up at BDTBL. He's an (at best) Championship striker earning 5 times what he's worth. Along with Evans, they typify everything that we've fucked up over the last 5 years. Unfortunately for him, Crud is injured or something. For these reasons, his head is on the block.

Thanks for that Foxy.
In the remote possibility that he wants to stay amd we can afford him, he'd be a valuable presence next season.

Depends what you mean by afford. Our gate money will just about stretch to cover his, Evans, Monty and Quinn's salaries. We'd be mad to continue to pay them though. If they're happy to play for 20%, then I'd keep all but Evans.
