Iam really worried about the obvious silence from the lane about who is top of the list for manager ! Ive read all the bullshit rumours and speculation of our sad plight, but what is the lane saying ? Living in cornwall iam quite a bit in the dark so dont have a go, but does anyone actually have any idea what the fuck is goin on ??????? A very worried and concerned blade amognst probably thousands of others. Someone please give us a clue ????????????

Sorry we all in the same path as you please can you please stop swearing thank you.

The Stir has persistantly iterated that there is unlikely to be an announcement until after the Y.C. final 2nd leg, so we'll see.

More worrying than the actual date of the anouncement tho for me, is the fact that on Skybet, DW's odds have gone from 6/4 to 1/2 tonight and whilst in this volatile market it means f'k all, it does mean that some peeps continue to place their hard earned on him. This unfortunately is giving me cause for concern!

:(

I'd be seriously surprised if McCabe appointed a manager with former swfc connections. I'm firmly of the belief that anyone with their connections would be given a rough ride if we endured a bad run. Personally, I would give them a rough ride. I'd find it unconscionable that an ex swfc manager could be Sheffield United manager.
I know people will disagree, but what does he think the reaction would be with Wilson in charge or Jewell/Laws (who has also been linked) if United are 15th in November?

The only one I would accept would be Jewell.
He knows what he is doing and he failed at the Sty.
Despite the rumours, I cannot see Jewell leaving Ipshize, especially for a third division club.

I'm actually pleased with the silence from the Lane.

Look at what happened last time, we got a coded message from Birch that everybody took as though SOD was about to walk through the door, but this gave the Donny chairman a chance to re-act.

Best to say nothing until a Press Conference is called.

Then we shall all know at the same time, whomever it is.

get ready for a reight let down ...........................................

I agree wiv beighton.because of all the silence and mystery nobody wants the job, lol. But a reight letdown is probably what its goin to be. I hate to be negative like this, but we are used to being letdown.............

We were in a worse mess than we are now when Porterfield became manager. He had Wednesday connections and was one of the more successful managers we've had during the last 40 years. That doesn't mean Danny Wilson would (or wouldn't) do well, but having Wednesday connections does not preclude having any success at United.

I disagree, we've been punching above our weight for a while until last season, when the real picture emerged. We're on a downward spiral, have no players, no manager, a shitbag running the club and no money. In the modern game money means everything, it's not like the good old days when we'd go down then bounce back up again, we've got fuck all to build on.

We're more in the shit than some of you seem to accept :help:

I certainly take your point, OB. Having swfc connections does not preclude success at Bramall Lane, it did not in Porterfield's case, although even though I was not even born when he became manager, the argument could be made that United had sunk so low that the only way was up anyhow.

However, Porterfield joined United on the back of winning the Third Division title with Rotherham, his stock would be high and that probably helped placate some supporters who did not like his swfc connections. It would be a little bit like getting Poyet to join us if we were in League Two. Imagine the lift for the club?

Wilson/Laws however, would offer the club nothing in terms of an immediate leg up, which is what many of could do with now.

I would be astounded if there was any announcement until after the second leg.

What's the big deal about not announcing anything until after the Youth Cup final?

Don't think there really is one, just saying I would be very, very surprised.

I for one am glad the club aren't commenting on speculation. I'd prefer them to deal with the actual job of appointing a new manager instead of drafting up a press release for every name they aren't going to appoint.

It should also be pointed out that the Youth Cup Final is only 26 hours away, so its not that extraordinary to think that an announcement wont be made until afterwards.

Anyway, we need to give Ian Holloway time to resign first!!!! :-)

TBH The silence, while unexpected, is a welcome break from the norm.

Happen to think this is a positive thing and that a structured interview process is happening that should, in theory, get us a good manager.

Fingers crossed !

i think mccabe is waiting for roman to pull the trigger at chelsea, then he will steam in and make ancelotti a offer he cant refuse !
