World Domination?

It’s just a bit of a ‘trendy’ thing to do. If it works it’s a good idea, but based on past experience I have a feeling it won’t turn us into the next Man City and their City Group.

and we now have Belgium and France scouting networks as a consequence.

Beerschot's placing in the league (at the end of the season) impacts on WPs. Finishing places are taken into account. As does appearance. They've slid quite a bit so doubt it will help much unless they're top 2 or 3. The bigger issue with Coulibally is lack of national caps for a team who are 54th in the world rankings.
Actually I can see the logic in having a central scouting network for all three clubs with the other two bearing some of the cost. The most suitable finds go straight to us, the next ones below that, the less certain ones go to us but then out on loan to one of the others, the possibles and those who may be more suited to European football go to Beerschott and the maybes to France. The ones not good enough for us or Beerschott may still be good enough for the French club. Or something along those lines.

Lundstram and Ampadu are the first image. Plus somebody yawning (probably from the Adkins era)

Is this the future?

Is it just me, or does United World sound like a shitty shop you'd find on Meadowhall Retail Park?

It's a very efficient way of doing things. One scout instead of three. There's obviously a slight tension around the higher end of one team and the lower end of another, but one side could sign a promising kid, progress him, signs for second club and progresses more until he then signs for the top club. Or the top clubs signs and then loans across this system.

Still, it's slightly strange. Comes to United and claims he doesn't have the wealth to run a Championship club alone, and that the club is an investment he hopes to make money on. Gets two promotions on a relative shoestring, resulting in United becoming a Premier League club. Wins the pools in the court case and becomes sole owner for a fraction of the club's market value. Contradicts his earlier words and claims he has no interest in selling the club despite it being at the peak of its potential value with a buyer in the background. Runs United in the Prem on a sizable proportion of the club's PL revenue, and takes out loans to pay for the real estate. No real attempt to compete with the Brightons of this world let alone the Leicesters. Meanwhile continues buying up a long list of international clubs; many of which that are presumably loss making (especially in Covid times). Rumours that a relatively inexpensive new training ground building has been iced, despite investment in lowly French side. Removal of Kop poles already iced in the summer, albeit with Covid reference as the reason.
Unless his financial circumstances have changed a lot and there are investors/silent partners in the background, the logic is hard to understand. There's a poster on here suggesting that; if that's the case, we're in for exciting times if there's real money behind him.

McCabe's plan was similar insofar as United would be top of the pile of an international collection of clubs that would trade players with United the net beneficiaries. His plan was to use his skills re real estate to also fill the clubs pocket book and in turn increase the transfer budget. Then the global financial crash happened. The whole plan was also undermined by the underperformance of Sheffield United when we failed to gain promotion - despite backing Robson and his successors massively.
Very interesting post mate and food for thought. Mccabe's plan could have actually been decent if not for the reasons you mention.

McCabes was purely about property. How would affialited clubs in China and Australia benefit United? They benefited McCabe. 2 of the United World clubs are much closer to us geographically and where talent as been aplenty in recent years. The other 2 are to raise our profile in wealthy/populous countries

There is another angle to this, one that has been exploited by other PL teams to get around the FFP rules. Meaningless French basement club pays SUFC millions for an academy player = profit on the P&L he then returns for a fraction having been developed but with no apparent market value. SUFC then sell on said player for a major profit = more boost to the finances. Allegedly, many PL teams operate in this way so he may be try to set up the structure so that a buyer comes in with an “optimized” off the shelf business.

This is similar to what McCabe did and the Barnsley owner is doing. Th e Prince is buying a number of clubs but to what end? Anyway, Chateauroux is a lovely little town in France with a 43k population so not big! Discounted holiday rates available do you think?

Different with Barnsley in my opinion as their owner is a Billionaire with further support from one of the most renown sports statistics organisations. Lucky fuckers dropping with such circumstances. 😭
