Selling your soul to the devil comes to mind. There would be an inevitable mixture of mediocrity and (hopefully) excellence, but whether any of this would contribute to sustainable success, well draw your own conclusions. In Wolves case I think the geographical association has meant that Mendes (the agent) has been able to introduce players that might not get a look in at, say, Man Utd. I think the matrix for signing to a club like MU has to be backed up by either a hefty reputation and/or a hefty transfer fee, with, of course, a comparable fee for the agent. Clubs like SUFC operate on a very different set of principles, and maybe, just maybe, we'll adapt and create our own version of what works for us. No doubt the fees paid to agents will rise, but given the shopkeeper's eye for the pennies that Wilder seems to possess, I doubt he'd will have much to do with this cavalier approach to acquisitions.

No doubt change will bring it's own rewards, but we seem to have a sound, behind-the-scenes-team, and their capabilities will, I hope, provide stability from which we'll be able to progress.

Wolves don't simply work with Mendes.

Fosun (Wolves' owners) own shares of Jorge Mendes agency. It's a lot more complicated than simply striking up a relationship.

Besides, there aren't many other agents as big as Mendes.

I'm no fan of the agent influence in the way football has gone but whether we like it or not they are a fact of life. Having a working relationship with Morgan would at least mean that someone who knows what the club is all about would be involved.
