Yep another thread...

Just been speaking to a mate who has a mate who's part of the Welsh set up (bear with me!)

He says Woodburn is done here. Wilder doesn't rate him and he isn't fit or sharp enough to play our high tempo style.

Not sure I buy it 100%, but some of it makes sense...

I'm sure he can play in our style, and I'm sure he could last 90 minutes playing our style as well. But there's something wrong, if everything was ok he'd have been given more chances to play from the subs bench knowing that Duffy is fucked after 60-70 minutes.

He's either not pulling any trees up in training or he's a billy big bolox that thinks he deserves his place because he is a Liverpool player

Good, we have neither room nor funds for passengers.

Wilder's job depends on success. If BW could help us be better, he'd be playing. That's it. Conversation over. I don't know why we shit on about it so much. If we trust the manager - and I think we do - then Woodburn isn't good enough.
If he improves in training, he will play. If he doesn't, he will go.

Let's move on.

surely Liverpool fans don't expect him to start every week for a championship club? he doesn't look good enough yet if not ever

It seems to me that playing & scoring for Wales has done him no favours. He’s was something like 15 goals in 30 games for Liverpool u23’s, and it might’ve been better going to Doncaster, Barnsley or Peterborough on a 6 month deal to find his feet and either a renewal or a second 6 months at the next level. Because he’s a full international, I get the impression that that has set the bar at championship level as a minimum. He’s only 19 for god’s sake, and we’re being thrown shade for holding his progress back.

The commentary on here about Woodburn seems to hint that Liverpoool won't be happy with his game time. Have we thought about whether JK sent him here to see if he was good enough. To see whether a team following a similar methodology to Liverpool - but at a lower level - would be where he could shine and advance. Maybe he has progressed exactly how the Liverpool staff (feared) expected.

Better got fookin’ fitter and sharper then. He’s an International player so shouldn’t be that hard.

He’s been with us for three months now. If he wasn’t fit when he arrived (which I find hard to believe) then he bloody should be by now.

One of my colleagues is a Liverpool fan and unlike most other Liverpool fans isn't surprised that Woodburn hasn't broken through. Felt he was overrated by their fanbase anyway, rarely impressed when given a chance and seems to have been dining out on that Wales goal, which to be honest wasn't overly special.
If he isn't up to it, send him back asap and save some cash. We can get by with McG, possibly Fleck or even Johnson as back up no.10s until January. I just hope we then make a serious bid for Luke Freeman, whilst prizing him from QPR will be very hard, and yes wages might be a problem, he would be such a magnificent addition to this group. I think we would go up comfortably with him and another decent striker.

Thirsty? So he's out after some poontang or he's not hydrating properly.

I see one being more of a problem than the other.

The same mate from work said "don't expect too much from Woodburn, a lot of it's hype".

Some people said Brooks was a luxuary player, this lad seems to have no fight or desire in him at all to me. Ok he's a kid but if you are going to get bullied off the ball like he does at least do it trying to beat a man or taking someone on like Brookseh would.

The real frustrating part that I've seen were the sloppy balls he plaid. I mean really simple passes that didn't come off, regardless of age that's just the basics and for a Premier League player and our coup of the Summer it's not good enough.

Can't be to much of a problem surely, there's plenty of foreign eateries on London road, surely one will serve this "poontang" stuff you speak of!????

I don't think his wages would be that much of a problem, definitely not as much as Hogan's were. Thats obviously depending on if a West Brom or Boro don't go for him. transfer fee might have to surpass Egans £4m though.

I want to know how someone in the Welsh set up knows this.

Woodburn would surely not be telling everyone on international duty he’s not getting picked because the manager doesn’t think he’s fit or sharp enough to play high tempo football.

I was debating with quite a few people on here when he signed (against the grain I may add) that he wasn’t currently better than Brooks, those people know who they are and no apology is needed. :)

Woodburn will never move for a fee that Brooks will do in time either.

I’m just glad we strengthened the squad as a whole so it hasn’t turned out to be a completely shite bit of business overall.

There’s still time for Woodburn but for one reason or another it doesn’t look good for him.

He struck me as being very nieve and not ready for the kind of game we are playing. He will improve but whether we'll get anything out of him is debatable.
Probably have a decent career but not in the same league as Brooke's,who's going to the very top.

He's clearly fit enough. I just don't think he's disciplined enough to play our high intensity style of play.

He’s got a lot of talent I think, but we’re top of the league without him playing. It really is that simple.

I don’t doubt that Stearman is good enough to get in the team, but he’s rightly kept out by the form of Egan, JOC and Bash.

Potential, names, pedigree, wages and reputations mean nothing to our manager and he’s top of the second league he’s managed us in after winning the other one. Liverpool fans who are just bored during international weeks can keep their beaks out.

Been pretty clear has this, from minute 1.

I hope the lad goes on to have a good career, but it won’t be helping us this season.

Yeah that's the worry mate. We could probably just about match his QPR wage, or at least chuck a nice signing on bonus to compensate. But even that wouldn't come close to the 30k he could easily get from those 2, perhaps even more.
