Josh Onomah and Joe Bryan two squad players for Fulham this season who may well see their role reduced further now they’re promoted. Could be options on loan.
Anthony Knockaert? Always been one of those players that has excelled in the Championship, but not good enough for Premier.

Wonder if this could realistically happen, a MGW replacement? Perhaps on a loan, maybe a permanent deal. If so I hope he's able to return to his previous levels. What a fighter. I love Brooksy.
His deal was due to be up this summer according to the much maligned transfermarkt but you’d assume they’ll do right be him and keep him under contract whilst he recovers but providing they don’t put a big multi year deal in front of him a perm could be affordable.

Have you heard something here Hal or is it more just wishful thinking?

Would be pretty amazing if Brooksy is in any position to play a part anytime soon. Looks an entirely different person the poor lad.

We need to replace what MGW gives us, even if it’s only 70/80% of that (and it’s likely to be because he’s class).

Not sure who that is, but we need to take a few swings to replicate what he gives. I’d look at a few loans and maybe a few l1/l2 stand outs to see if they can make the step up.

Brooks and Ndiaye floating around behind a striker is a salivating prospect in terms of the type of football we could play at the top of the pitch. Also there would something deeply satisfying about having two academy graduates being top players for us.

Brooks last played a game in Sept 21 - he has since been through cancer treatment. Who knows what sort of condition he's in and will be able to get back to. Unless assurances can be given as to his current condition, any interest in him for next season would have to be deemed a long shot and high risk. He also has a track record of being susceptible to injuries (and other illnesses) and while on his day he has shown he is top Prem level, I personally wouldn't stake a fair proportion on Utd's budget for next season on him.

Exactly the same goes for players such a Dack.

I'd love us to go in for Daniel Johnson from Preston. He's consistently performed well for a number of seasons in the Championship, in the last year of his contract, so fee wouldn't be ridiculous and I'd expect us to be able to better his contract at Preston. I know we aren't spending big, but with the players out of contract and loans players returning to parent clubs we must be looking at over £100k a week saving.

Alternatives;

Siriki Dembele
Domingos Quina
Jed Wallace
Tom Lawrence
Tom Ince
Anthony Knockaert
Jack Clarke
James McAtee
Reda Khadra
Elliot Anderson

I've got no idea what kind of deal it would be appropriate to offer. On one hand he's a great lad, an exceptional talent and he's been through hell. On the other, could this have wiped him out in terms of a career in professional football? It's a risk to offer him the money he's probably after, but you don't want to offer something insulting.

Is there any kind of precedent for a player coming back from something like this and performing to a similar standard?

Seem to remember villa had a player come back from cancer treatment but that was towards the end of his career think he was in his 30’s at the time. Brooks at least has time on his side age wise.

Was that Stylian Petrov? Didn't he go to Celtic afterwards for a bit?

Brooks would be a potential risk - reward situation.

One that could benefit bornmouth too as they look to build him back up (fitness and transfer value). They can’t really carry him whilst getting back up to speed

Hendos and MGW values increased exponentially during their time here. No reason brooks couldn’t do the same, though he’s not got the same work rate as MGW he’d be class if he can get back to anything like 100%

Good shout. Always bosses it against us.

As much as I'm a fan of Brooks I'm really not sure how anyone seriously thinks he the answer to replacing MGW's output from last season.

Even before his health issues I struggle to see how he would be a like for like replacement and truly feel some Blades seriously overestimate his ability IIBH.

I’ve just played golf at La Finca in Murcia and we got paired up with a couple of Icelandic lads.

Anyway, one of them is Kolbeinn Sigþórsson, Icelandic striker, all time national team equal record goalsorer, ex of Ajax, Galatasaray, AIK and Nantes, age 32 and says he’s retiring.

I’ve tried to persuade him to give it one last go, a 12 month contract at the Lane, a Premier League promotion for his CV?

Not fucking interested, said at his age he’s too injury prone, (too bigger club for him I reckon) but it’s given me an insight into player recruitment and I take my hat off to Hecky, Mitchell, Bettis, et al, it’s not as straightforward as we assume it to be 😉

Hopefully, after the game, you all went in the club house to have a few of these

Yerson Mosquera and Kortney Hause on loan either side of Egan. Mosquera is extremely quick and would go a long way to solving our pace problems at the back, he’s in need of a loan and maybe we can leverage the successful loan spell of MGW to bring another good player in from Wolves. Hause is a slightly ambition one but despite signing a new deal he rapidly fell down the pecking order under Gerrard and they’ve recruited further since. We could negotiate an option to buy with the loan. Big, strong, left footed and excellent in the air. He’d be a perfect signing for that position.

Poach someone from the newly doubly relegated and broke Bordeaux. Doesn't need to be anyone good or a position of need, just gerremin

Said it before however.
Alan Browne from Preston NE, attacking midfielder who would put a foot in and score a minimum of ten goals from midfield.
Also Jon Cullen needs to get back to playing in English football never looks out of place in an international shirt, very good cover for Norwood who will still be an integral part of next season. What he and we need is more athleticism in the side.
Great shout about the wide centre backs by the way Lowen and may be Charlie Cresswell on a youth loan and either Jerry Yates or Will Keane to supplement the goal scoring. Dwight Gayle not for me we have enough forwards who aren't available enough or don't want it enough like him. Could prove me wrong at either WBA or Middlesbrough btw
