Wilson has to shoulder the blame for inept performances!

Surely its the managers job not to play inept players and replace them not just pick them week in week out.

It's the manager's job to pick the best side available to him. Unfortunately, given the lack of funding available for widespread changes to the squad, we have little choice but to pick the players who are already at the club.

That said, I'd like to see more of Harriott, Tonne, Whitehouse and Kennedy in the match-day squads.

I'm sorry Fiery, I find it extremely strange that you think that what Danny Wilson says in an interview is exactly the same as he says to the players behind the scenes. It's very rare a manager will come out and blame everything on a single player making a mistake when he's getting criticised from all angles at the minute.

Come on Daz, surely everyone knows that what a manager says to the press is a 100% accurate representation of what he is thinking and what he is saying behind closed doors?

Next you'll be telling us that if a manager doesn't rant and rave on the touchline, he doesn't care, can't motivate his team and has no plan B...

I don't feel that we can judge wilson just yet especially after the last 3 results. Take the pigs game for first if simmo stays on his line or the ref had a set of bollocks we'd have 2 extra points there, we then beat Preston away and drew on saturday in a scrappy game because simmo went walkies again. So wilson and the lads should have 4 extra points and we'd be in third however whether simmo is completely to blame or not you decide but you can not get on wilson for that. He has made some poor signings agree but with a small budget you have to take a chance. I will judge him at xmas if we are top 6 and looking ok then he is doing well, if we are between 7th and 12th he's not doing so well and if we are below 12th we need to be deciding if he is the right man to take us forward.

but Evans, and Co must be better than most of the dross plying their trade in the Third Division.

Why must they? All evidence says they aren't.

Sadly for some of you, one or two local heroes will have departed.
Hopefully not the ones he keeps picking though, surely Pinchy?

This Blade is 100% behind the manager.

Danny talks sense and is trying to implement his philosophy gradually.

With the team he inherited and the pocket fluff he was given to spend, he's doing a good job.

They didnt look as if they could beat an egg last season!

This is the first real test that he has faced this season.

He got off to an excellent start and won a lot of the fans over, but now we have had a blip in form, and the keeper's confidence looks shot to bits, does he stick with him and he makes more errors which in turn begins to get the fans on Wilson's back, does he stick with him and he turns in 5 or 6 decent error free performances on the trot and all is forgotten about Simmo, does he put George Long in who turns in a series of impressive displays and people laud his judgement, or does George Long flop?

It's a tough call, but one i feel Wilson needs to get right.

We've won 2 & drawn 2 of our last 4 games, 3 of which have been against sides challenging at the top. We could easily have won all 4 if we had a keeper whose confidence wasn't shot. I think the OP was a bit of a premature ejaculation.

No it wasn't - The fact we should have won all the last four games is what I am alluding to ! and probably be second in the league!!
WE are a better side than most in this piss poor league - lets make sure we get out first time
Why settle for anything less - perhaps our fans are happy being 'also rans'
You carry on Nick thinking we've done ok - those dropped points could be critical come next April
Well done tonight lads UTB

Poor another glass of wine Fiery and toast the boys tonight. I think you've been a big harsh on Danny, and from what I have seen this season, the football we have played has been much easier on the eye, and, despite being in a lower league, our performances have been consistently better.

I am confident we will be thereabouts at the end of the season. Arguably Charlton and Huddeersfield are better than most sides in the bottom half of the Championship so we need to push them hard and see what happens. Patience man!

couldn't agree more PB. Let's give Wilson a chance. It was a good (if difficult) decision to play Long tonight. It was certainly a brave decision (no matter how bad you think Simmo is). The manager feels right, the team can play exciting and entertaining football. They're not invincible, week in week out they will sometimes dazzle (first goal tonight) and sometimes frustrate (last 20 mins tonight). But we'll be in the mix at the end. We all know this is 3rd Division, be patient and enjoy the games!

To suggest the fans will be happy at being aso rans is silly. To suggest that they may see that players so deservedly relegated from the league above can't EXPECT promotion form the league below is just a vote for common sense, nothing more.

Following the comments from the manager after the Orient match has he relinquished all responsibility?
Game after game they are giving away stupid goals & free kicks, missing chances, generally being second best to poor teams in a poor division.
Do they not work on things during training, practice attacking and defending set pieces, dealing with match scenarios, etc
Tet week in week out same mistakes made over and over again
The team cannot retain possession of the ball at key times, mis hatfulls of chances, keep on giving away foul after foul
The players are slow, both in athetisism and in thought Cannot anticipate the next move, struggle to win the ball and retain possession, shoot on target and defend set pieces
Very rarely does a corner beat the first man and free kicks and dead ball situations lack imagination, flair and a basic talent to carry them out.
Whilst our squad are the highest paid players in the league there performance is anything but the best in the division
When will Wilson do something
He has proved that his transfer dealings are second rate eg Porter, Flynn, LJF
He appears to lack any motivational capacity
He is unable to get the players to play how he wants them to based on the comments following the last match
His coaches appear to be limited as they can't get the players to perform
I'm sorry, Wilson is proving to be everything I thought he was, a second rate manager!

Well done Danny Boy. Good result against a very good footballing side.

Whilst it was a very good victory last night against a good footballing side the fact that Wilson had the balls to drop Simonsen and give Long a game was a good decision!
He has shown that perhaps he can do the job after all! We will have to wait and see......................................
but it's not 'Well done Danny Boy' yet he still has a lot to prove!!!

So, you'd concluded that his managerial ability was too short for the job. But he drops our woefully out of form keeper and now "perhaps he can do the job afterall".

That's this season's fickleness award bagged already.

:)

Alco - the key words were 'Perhaps' not an admission that' I now think he is up to it' but because he had the balls to make the decision to drop Simonsen he MAY HAVE what is required!!!
Up until that time he had not demonstrated he had the steel the guts, the guile and the wherewithal to manage succesfully at this level.
I have yet to be convinced that he can do the job, but the decision to replace Simonsen with a rookie junior was a brave one (the only option in my view) and we will wait and see!!
It's not Fickleness or a U turn and neither is it a 'Stay of Execution' it is a statement that he actually 'managed the situation' well and I recognised the fact!!!
It is a long road to automatic promotion - lets see if Mr Wilson can prove my doubting wrong!!!
