will we ever learn

So, quick question - are we a set of useless fuckers who would be better off in Lge 1 - or quite a good team who aren't far off being a very good team if we had a couple of goal-scoring forwards?

We clearly aren't far away at all and are one of the better sides in the league. We aren't just a good run anymore, we have overcome an awful patch to get back into top 10 form. The only reason why we won't challenge next season is if the shit at the top isn't sorted out.

Before i start it might come across harsh when i want to praise wilder. because i think last 2 games united have been fantastic, hugely improved outplaying both sides over the easter period. whether it physically or mentally but players seem revitalized over the international break like night & day.at times we had look tired & devoid of ideas in feb/march. i really hope wilder wont change his approach from Brentford & Cardiff in the next 6 games because Whatever changed its working. keep being aggressive & attacking

but Hard to not repeat myself from about 60mins in tonight, good friday or many numerous times back through season where i leave thinking IF. But again we are own worst enemy. I will not take any criticism of the defence tonight. They can only do so much & as wilder said cardiffs equaliser should only have mattered as a consolation as how we werent been 3 up at least tonight beyond me. i can forgive Donaldson but that evans chance really annoys me acre of space 1 on 1 10yds out & no composure fluffs a straight forward chance. so we add cardiff can add that to pile of Points we've dropped this season thru wasted chances. its Infuriating as this isn't 1st 2nd or 3rd time probably the 8th time weve been punished or made it unnecessarily stressful. like Barnsley back in august at 2nd home game when we hung on for 1-0 when we should've been 4-0 up

After watching that game Warnock will be right after an auto spot he won't want to go up against the Blades in any playoff.
I expected that we would be steamrolled Cardiff looked shocked to me they look huge but the Blades were quicker, played great football around them . They had two chances and scored on one at the death.
I thought we looked as good today as we did at the start of our good run at the beginning of the season. Thanks Blades for a thrilling edge of the seat game.

Greatest team in the history of the worlds fans dishing out sage advice as always

There is a great thread on there where they are telling themselves they'd be in the play offs if not for the injuries because the division is rubbish.

The gift that keeps on giving.

I'm not deluded about United. We are somewhere between 14-35 in terms of clubs in England. They are very much in that same bracket but I'd say over 50% of them genuinely think they are a couple of breaks away from challenging at the top end of the Prem.

There is nothing to learn. The players just don't have enough quality in the final third. You can't learn that.

Bang on mate.

I've got nothing but admiration for this team but people need to get realistic.

We paid peanuts for 33/34 year old Clayton Donaldson. Cardiff paid 6 million for Madine. If those 2 sentences alone don't ram home the facts that Warnock isn't a miracle worker, and Wilder has done a tremendous job.....

If Cardiff give dinosaurs like Warnock and Blackwell millions to spend in the Prem they deserve the relegation they will inevitably get.

Warnock should never manage in the prem..he is like a rabbit caught in the headlights .
He's starstruck, all the attention and glitz just takes him over.
The players he would need wouldn't be the type he could work with, just by putting his arm around and cajoling him in his tactics /workrate/love the badge
psychology. .sorry Neil, stick in the lower leagues where you're loved.

to take a second chance and kill off a game

brooks and donaldson misses bit us in the arse again

we absolutely murdered them 1=1
their player just had the cheek to say they created more than us second half on sky
the lying bastard

It's nothing to do with learning, the players didn't miss chances because they hadn't learned.

We've pushed the boundaries this season and the players have been excellent based on their abilities.

We've missed opportunities because the players haven't quite had the quality in the key areas. Quality isn't just about ever being able to do it, it's also about consistency.

Unfortunately threads like this expose the blind positivity for what it really is. There's nothing for our three 30 something strikers to learn. They're doing their best but are sometimes coming up short purely because at this stage they aren't week in week out top of the Championship strikers.

And I say that in full admiration for their performances this season. Expecting too much with OTT positivity and expectations is counter productive.

A good pro is always learning. We learn as we grow as a group . Players like Lundstram are improving with every game.. Pep Guardiola has taken man city's players and improved them and some were already very good. Clarke has come on in leaps and bounds after his first uninspiring few months after he joined. He was outstanding last night. Of course players can always improve. The form of late has improved we have played much more assuredly in last 2 games in particular but there's still plenty we can improve

Definately Evans with the chance lads...Brooks would have buried it.
Play like that and we'll cruise into the Play Off's...just need to be more clinical..Sickener at the end,but can't fault that display...Back 3 were class;Midfield ran the show...Clarke was class...wing backs did well, and good to see Brooks back.

The only thing irritating me is our forwards missing chance after chance after chance

Blame the budget. We need that extra 10% of quality. We are so close to being a very good side capable of challenging it borders on irritating.

We simply can’t get away with spending 50 grand on a 33 year old and expecting us to take more than 1 in 4 chances. Time to splash out

I must admit when I woke up this morning I expected to be gutted but I am not. Just need to get to Saturday now and go again. The perforomances have been there and Clarke got his mojo back last night. Just need some luck to turn these performances into a good finish to the season .

Complaining about the board and by lack of investment really doesn’t help anything now. Let’s get back that when the seasons finished

You’re right,it was Brooks. Sorry guys, He had a very good game but put in on goal left hand side of the box (around 70 mins I think), took 2 poor touches and never got it out from under him. Premiership quality striker would tuck those away first time. As I say, he had a good game and I’m a big fan - he wasn’t alone in squandering great chances
It was Evans !!!!!!!!!

The soft underbelly of Sheffield United has sadly returned after a very ruthless season last season.

to take a second chance and kill off a game

Not too downhearted. We saw flashes of the early season Blades again last night. Cardiff have conceded just 33 goals in 39 games so create that many opportunities is very pleasing.
We play like that against Boro, Millwall and Preston and we win.

Come
On
You
Red
And
White
Wizaaaaaaaaaaaards

It's not really about learning how to finish - it's about having the players good enough to do it. We dont quite have them when it comes to pushing for the top 6. All of our strikers have chipped in this season and have done pretty well, it's just all of them are not quite top draw Championship level, where the standard is about taking the single chance you get in a game (e.g. one chance, one goal) rather than needing three or four before converting.

This will only change if the board support Wilder with more money.

Jeez guys, I love the lad as much as anyone but Brooks fluffed his chance when in on goal. If you still don’t believe me this is from the Sportsmole live stream....
54 minSAVE! Brooks wanted too much time on the ball when played through on goal by Fleck. The young Wales international got the ball stuck under his feet and Etheridge raced out to clear the ball before the shot arrived.

Admittedly I got the time wrong 54 not 70 mins

I was looking back at the fixtures through the season. Because it has been Story of our season, our lack of clinicalness & said how i Dreaded to think how many points we had lost as we havent taken our chances. I got 17pts from 8 games middlesborough A, norwich H birmingham H, bristol city H, sheff wed H, forest H, brentford A & Cardiff H. barnsley H came mighty close to 9th addition as because we got lucky in that game shouldve been miles ahead, instead hung on for 1-0 win.
