Will this Sunday be the last I see the Blades in the Premier League?

Well I'm 69 tomorrow and I'd like to think we will have many more seasons in the top flight in my lifetime. Do I care up we go up at the end of next season? Do I hell they can shove the Premier league in it's present form up their arse. Nothing lasts forever the top six might piss off to some euro league, VAR might be abandoned who knows?

A quick look at where we are heading doesn't fill me with fear. Southampton will probably win the play off's leaving Leeds as the only half decent side in the Championship apart from the relegated teams. Norwich and West Brom are about as good as half a dozen other teams in there, the rest are shite even the pigs managed to stay up on the last day.

If the Prince and Wilder get their shit together there is no reason we couldn't bounce straight back, now whether they will/can is another question.

As you say, not really bothered about being promoted next year as the Premier League is pointless at the moment. Championship is a far, far more enjoyable experience. I think we'll be promoted sometime in the next 5 years though, as realistically we are generally a Norwich/WBA/Leeds intermediate level club. Hopefully some changes will have been made to "improve the Premier League product" before we are back up! Oh and maybe, just maybe we might not sell our best player before the season starts 😭

1968 first time i saw us relegated from the top division heartbreaker that was when chelsea scored their 2nd at the lane end but yo-yoing is very much part of our history as a club and cant see it changing all part of being a blade though utb fto
Watched them since 1965 and remember the Chelsea game but I still can’t believe we managed to throw it away v Fulham at home - 2-0 up and lost 2-3 mainly thanks to Alan Clarke. But we did get the 1971/2 promotion and that unforgettable 5-1 win over Cardiff.

The only Blade player that seemed to care about winning that match was Wille Carlin.

Even towards the end he was still trying to gee up his team-mates.

Martin writes that with 3 games left, we look forward to a promotion push next season. League table showed 4 games left, 15th place.
Right prediction..wrong division. 😔

What a bell end, so that got pinned on all the dressing room walls and led to our biggest ever embarrassment losing at home to.Walsall to go down.

1976 was the first time I saw us get relegation from the top tier but I naively did expect us to return to the 1st division in a year or two. I was wrong as it took us 14 years for us to return to the top flight!

In 14 years time, if I am lucky, I will be 76 years old but I am wise enough not to expect us to bounce back in a year as in our history it has never happened that we bounced back to the top fight in one year.
You'll be at the San Siro in 2027 celebrating our shock Champions League final victory in the most amazing story in football history. You heard it first here!

Promotion season was 1970/71

76 we were down early but towards the end of the season we were ok
The worst relegation was 94 was really gutted with that last day defeat Wigan was bad as well

Bit of controversy in 94/07 and down to the last game, whereas this season we have sunk like a stone. I'm a bit older than Silent and also been wondering if it might be my last top flight season.

My first season was 67/68 and I remember not really being old enough to understand relegation. I do remember having the bottom lip out on the number 75 bus back to Firvale with my dear old dad, bless him, after watching us lose over and over again. As I got older I had a real nasty streak over football, or the Blades more importantly. You could say pretty much owt to me but don't ever slag my team off, even when we've been shite it's ok for fellow Blades to give it some but outsiders? Definitely not!

Anyway, over time and I live in the States now, all my friends and colleagues here know the score, and while they don't really get it, they love that at my age I'm still a fucking nutcase when it comes to us. They've followed the journey this season with me and now know that Chelsea, both Manchester clubs, Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham are plastic. Their followers, can't call them fans, are tourists and the sooner they fuck off, the better. They know about VAR, they think diving or 'flopping' as they refer to it is part of the game, and that the top players all do it. They only get to see Premier League so think it's real, they don't understand that if you want to watch football, real football, you have to go down the leagues. I'm walking round with a huge smile on my face because I fucking hate this league, and thankfully we won't be a part of it after the weekend. I think the standard is woeful, not talking about modern players playing quick passes, having good movement, excellent ball skills and great athleticism. I'm talking about playing the game, about tackling, riding a tackle, not falling down without contact, not screaming at the ref, not being told that Klopp and Guardiola are some kind of gods when they have billion dollar budgets, not having all the fucking bullshit selling that fucking woeful league rammed down your throat every verse end.

I'm really looking forward to next season, where games will be more even, won't be decided by VAR or cheating and I just hope we have a clear out, make some decent honest signings and give it a good go. Promotion? I only want the money, I don't really want to watch Premier League football again, I think it's crap. Lose the top 6 to some rich man's league, scrap VAR, sack off the Premier League officials and get back to basics. Bring tackling back, stop accepting cheating and maybe promotion wouldn't be the poison chalice that it currently is.

That would have been a relevant question when Don Givens missed a penalty as we slid into div 4 , but weve been back 4 times since

It has been not quite the season we hoped for has it , but when we only got 23 points 3 years ago some thought wed never return then

But we are a resilient lot if nothing else, like a computer thats gone down , we shall turn ourselves off and back on again and start refreshed , next season will not mirror this one
its exciting knowing new heroes will come along , as theyve always done

Judging by watching Norwich currently who seem to have borrowed our back 4 and keeper, I would say a return trip to the Premier League isnt as far away as you'd think!

You'll outlive the premier league mate.

I am 75 now so god only knows if I will see them again in the Prem especially if it takes us 14 years Quite sobering to even think like that. I can't see us bouncing back in the next year or two. The sale of the club must go ahead before we can really progress. Hasn't the Prince got some Saudi mates with some spare millions to invest. I am hoping the purchase of the new training ground, the purchase of the McCable land at BL and the restoraation of the hotel are going to make us more attractive proposition.

we still havent been lower than 5th in the championship for 5 years

position in the 92 last 5 is 21st 20th 25th 22nd 20th,,,, thats fairly consistant

stop your head wobbling

Think I was born same year as you Silent (61) so I get where you’re coming from . I think we will see Utd in the top league again as I have always thought of myself as indestructi…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….,……..,..,,,,,,,,,..,,…………………………

If we get new ownership we have to hope we’ll have a proper go at promotion and staying up there. Then we look to build the new training ground and update the off-site infrastructure.

It’s tough but not impossible.
Talking of ownership, I wonder what the chances are of that pillock popping out onto the pitch again?

This is my Bladercoaster. I only had room for managers at the end of each season. Funnily, the highlights were Darlington, under the stand at MK Dons singing Wilder's army and the Charlton quarter final. (I didn't get to Leicester). I saw the "Quality Goal" match, Sitting on the Ball v Arsenal etc but the 3 games above, for some reason, were the times when it just felt like a huge family party.

I was 70 last year Silent, it's the new 40!!

To be fair, in our history we’d never got pasted 8-0 at home, conceded over a hundred goals and failed to get even 20 points.

Things change
