He saw us at our lowest point (Losing to Rotherham 1-3 away).
He saw us again as plucky, gallant losers (Losing to Hull 3-5 at Wembley)
It would be good for him to see us at our best as strong, jubilant winners (Home v Bradford or Chesterfield).

Show him that he hasn't wasted his money after all.
Give him more desire and incentive to invest.

Are the toilets running low AGAIN!?

WILDER OUT!

I was under the impression he has held a government post in Snidy Arabia for a while and would be on a bit of a sabbatical where we are concerned.

Don't keep releasing the highly sensitive information on here SBT. Some people actually read it!

Yes, we know he's the Saudi Government Minister for Sport.
Surely even Government Ministers are allowed to have holidays or a weekend off?
Time and schedule permitting it would be good news all round if he could see a match at the Lane while we're flying. IMHO.

No mention of him here. Note I was vague in giving him a specific job title, whereas you seem convinced he is a big cheese. If cheese is allowed in The House of Saud. Cool. That rhymes.

He said not when he was appointed.

"Prince Abdullah bin Mosaad bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Sheffield United’s co-owner, has been appointed the new general president of youth welfare by Saudi Arabia’s rulers, writes James Shield. He was handed the role, which is the Middle Eastern kingdom’s equivalent of the Minister of Sport, when its previous holder, Prince Nawaf bin Faisal bin Fahd bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, relinquished the position earlier this week....etc"

Cute.

It actually may have been Jim but it was along the lines that the job would take up all the time he had and would mean that his visits to BL, if any, were unlikely. Think the job was for a fixed period.

That's pretty much how I remember it.
Be interesting to see exctly how investment in players plays out before the start of the new season.

We do of course have him to thank for his determination to have Madkins appointed.

Without wishing to be controversial.................................................

...............I hope he doesn't. The Saudi government is among the most corrupt in the world and any money he has is almost certainly tainted. I'd like HRH The Prince to sod off out of our club altogether. We are the Sheffield People's club, and not the plaything of an oil-rich oligarch, thanks very much.

<< But Phipps, the Prince's principal advisor, says he still has a burning desire to see the Club make a return to England's second tier and beyond in the coming years.

"The Prince was involved in every step of the process," Phipps revealed. "He spoke with Nigel before he was unveiled to the Press, was aware of every person we've spoken to and interviewed and was kept up to date with the entire process of the managerial change.

"His role, which is effectively his country's Minister for Sport, is a very full-time job and, as a result, he doesn't have a great deal of time to devote to United. But he remains a very avid follower of the Club and at times, he thinks very much like a supporter - especially after a defeat! >>

True, Jim said that he "doesn't have a great deal of time to devote to United".
I still think he should be able to squeeze time for us in just one weekend a year.
Oh well, I'm sure he would have loved it at the moment.

Without wishing to get all political, the Saudi government works for Saudi. While it's far from civilised and western, and it has some pretty awful statistics surrounding it, it's managed to keep an Islamic, middle eastern country stable and functional and provided a decent standard of life for its people so its fine with me.

Much as I'm inclined to agree with the general gist of what you're getting it, this is how it is these days. The game is awash with money, and businessmen, oligarchs and royals are the ones who have it. I stump up what I can for my club but if we were ran on the budgets of me and people like me, we'd probably not exist.

I understand the discomfort, but find me a wealthy businessperson who say they've never done wrong or bent the rules a tad to get where they are, and I'll show you a liar.

Oh, please...

Let's be reyt. We're just tolerating the fact that he's involved in the government of a despicably run police state, because we financially benefit. There is no moral justification.

Bit like successive UK Governments really.

Without it as it is, Saudi Arabia would be in civil war, the Islamists would run a mock and everybody would be dying on the streets. For a vivid image of what Saudi would look like without an oppressive leadership, see Aleppo.
