Or blew it when we were top of the championship with money to spend and compounded that by then blowing the play off final when leading at half time?
Not as damaging as the moves made in the summer that we will feel for YEARS

What a state we’re in.
We are now clapping our hands when our rivals reinforce their squad, because we might get a bit of coin out of it.
How did we get here?
Counterpoint:
The transfer and sell-on fees for a youth team player who (ISTR) was with us for about 12 month will return up to £5m total.

Given the small number of youth players from any club who have a high level career even after banging in goals in youth football, I don't think that reflects bad business for the club, especially since he wanted to leave at the time to join the club he supports.

I suppose some on here, will be cheering the fact we get a sell on fee, when. Norwich sell Brooksy for £20 mill next summer, if he doesn’t get them promoted, that is.But not me!! Especially when he was leaving the club, he loves.
Always assuming of course, we weren’t stupid enough not to insist on a sell on clause!

Ramsdale
Seriki
Walker
Maguire
Norrington-Davies
Arblaster
Slater
A. Brooks
Ndiaye
D. Brooks
Calvert Lewin / Osula

Would’ve been an interesting team to see all from the academy

Problems started at half time at Wembley. That squad was built on loans and players we couldn’t afford to keep. It was always going to get split up if we failed.

When the pressure was on Hecky delivered. Sir Cwissy didn’t.
Nobody sane would say we went from 90 points to losing every game because of one half of football. Ludicrous Wilder dislike makes people post some really bizarre stuff 🤣

Explain how that works....if wed gone up wed have earned at least 150m in the first year then a minimum of the parachute payments for 3 consecutive years.

Last summer we signed 4 or 5 crap players that cost us less than 15m. There's no comparison in terms of short or long term effect.

If he hadn’t have shit the bed in that game we’d have gone up, got parachutes again, wouldn’t have been sacked and wouldn’t have had to rebuild the squad.

There’s only one group that’s delusional about how we’ve ended here and it’s the group that categorically fails to apportion any blame to the man in charge for absolutely any mistake he makes.

Uh huh. It's Wilders fault Selles was clueless.
What nonsense. You can't see how blinkered you are.

We could have gone again. Instead we blew up a proven script that was working for something new just... because. And it made us worse and will now be stuck with terrible players for years. Even if we go up this year.

Yeah we could have gone again in the championship with all the parachute money gone.Clearly the summer was a nightmare but it was far more damaging blowing the position we were in the previous season and if you cant see that we may as well stop the discussion.

If wilder hadn’t bottled it then Selles wouldn’t have been in the job.

I can explain it to you, but I can’t understand it for you.
If var wasn't randomly inserted in the game...

The fact is we were worse off for sacking him. That's on the board. As is the transfer overhaul which is partly why the board wanted Wilder gone. They quickly saw his way when it went to shit and brought him back. Unfortunately the damage is done.

Brooks is a different situation, in that he's a largely known quantity. Lankshear was good for us at U18. We've had a lot of U18s scoring a lot at U21; relatively few have a successful career in football and still fewer have a career at the very top.

If someone comes in and offers £1m plus a decent sell-on for youth players who aren't near the team, the club is going to take that every day, because we're selling a long shot.

Its fair enough to be worried about rivals strengthening. But they're going to strengthen anyway because that's football, so it's nice if we get a bit of extra cash out of it.
