Reports this morning are, that Spurs and Bournemouth are both to bud for young David in the coming weeks!!, could this also affect Wilders decision to stay with us, as we know how good our owners are at snatching people's hands off for low offers!?

Buckle up, could be a rough ride this summer!

I hope he stays, but if we get 8-10m for him then I'd sell....

He's a good talent, but I haven't been that impressed with him when he starts, a bit of an "expensive" impact player if that's what he's valued at.

Having said that, I'd think because of his illness he will stay until at least January, I would imagine that premiership clubs would want to see more from him at the start of next season, to prove that he is fully recovered and can re-capture his form pre-illness.

Sell him for £10m and loan him back for the season.....double win as Wilder also gets his transfer kitty...

Let' face it, we can't compete with most of the Championship let alone the Prem in the transfer market so hanging on to the thought that any talented young player will be with us long term is pur fantasy.

I change my opinion of him week by week...

On the one hand he's an international striker and on the other he's young, goes missing and gives the ball away.

However, considering we desperately need a Number 9 with pace, who can influence big games - and we potentially have one in our current squad - selling the one we have seems bonkers...

He's the only player we've produced/had in the attacking part of the field with the potential to be the best player on the pitch in a top 4 premier league game. And we want to sell him for £8-10m?

Yes it might end up petering out but personally I'd much rather see something special for a couple of years than sell him and keep our fingers crossed that we can spend any money we make wisely.

The way the boardroom is at the moment I doubt we'd see 50% of any up front fee put back into the squad anyway

It seems we are forever undervaluing our young players.
We ended up with more money for Kyle Walker’s sell on fee than for the actual sale for example.
I can see the same happening with Brooks, he has the potential to be the next TC (expecting lots of people to tell me otherwise) but he’ll be sold for a bag of crisps to the first bidder because ‘it’s the blades way’ - no doubt many will say it’s good business when we get 3.5 million for him. (Paid in 24 monthly instalments of course)

Start the bidding at £20m and allow yourself room to haggle down.

Although knowing this club it will £2.5m, a friendly and a couple of shite youths on loan for a week.

He’s a talent. No doubt about it. He’s also green and needs some work. But if we sell him that’s not our problem. Someone else can smooth off the rough edges.

Gary Madine cost £6m.

Use that as the yardstick.

On the money there.

At the moment he hasn’t done enough to command a decent fee. Keep him an extra year and we might be talking £20m+ and generally the market will increase anyway so there isn’t much chance of his value dropping unless he gets a serious injury.

So speculate to accumulate is what I say, but more likely we’ll snap their hands off at £4m plus add ons.

Whilst I would hate to see the lad sold as he has potential to be a top player for many years ahead, I would be okay with it of the money was right and all (or nearly all) the money was reinvested back into the squad and made available to CW.

If the fee was say £13m up front (no silly conditions of sale needed such as we get £3m of that if he goes to the moon in the next 5 years etc) and that allowed us to bring in 3 to 4 first team players then it would worth the trade.

If the money isn't big enough then absolutely no way - if rather us have him for the next few years and let us see how he develops with us.

The other problem is that we could get a great fee for him and the the boardroom would perhaps give CW a third of the fee. However I cannot for a moment envisage all the Brooks fee (or even a high percentage of it) being reinvested as it will go on cutting our annual losses. Therefore I'm coming down on the side of keep the lad.

You were all saying exactly the same this time last year, and again in January. He’s still here.
This time last year no-one had heard of him was Chesterfield bound and had no market value. In January he had glandular fever.

The circumstances have changed, but until there's a bid I don't see the point in both sides of the Kev divide manning the settlements.

Selling him this summer would be bloody stupid given the contract he's on here.

Due to his ongoing recovery from illness his value isn't peaked and it would take extreme bad luck for it to go lower than it is now. We can afford to wait for it to rise again because he's contracted until at least 2021.

We have to get full value when we sell him. Right now we couldn't do that.

"Gary Madine cost £6m. " FFS , yes Colin took Cardiff up but that signing was unbelievable, cost them 6 mill and he didn't even start the games in the run in for Cardiff, that useless twat won't get one goal next season when they get relegated, if he even gets on the pitch .
As for Brooks , I love the kid but I am at the stage now that if anyone doesn't want to be at the club they can fook off and that includes our manager ( who I also love ) , but it's like a girlfriend that has found someone else or is at that it's not you it's me stage , if the loves gone your only gona argue and be stuck in a relationship that the other half doesn't want to be in , and with out sex !! and who wants that !!

United should build a team around our best players not sell them. However, if the choice was between, let's say Fleck or Brooks, I'd keep Fleck and that's only if we get £20m + (that type of figure for teams like Liverpool and Spurs is chicken feed, so stick to your guns United don't let him go on the cheap. Try a different tact United screw 'um up to £30m) for Brooks. That's also with the proviso that CW gets all the money to spend on players, £20/30m to spend should make a big difference to what we bring in this summer.

They will be buying potential that’s why the figures are so high. He is very hit and miss away at Leicester he tore there full back a new one.

Then struggled next game. But it’s down to his age. I would want us to keep him for as long as possible as he will only go up in price.

At this point in time I am more worried about losing Fleck and perhaps JOC; two ever presents who normally deliver an eight out of ten performance and who also still have youth on their side. Brooks has all the talent in the world and arguably greater potential but would still be seen as more of a gamble at this stage.

Who knows but we will do well to keep two of the three. Way of the world unfortunately and most championship clubs will be prayed upon by the PL this summer.

So for example, we've seen £8-10m suggested on here. As ridiculous it is that championship players are now sold for that much, the sad reality is that that is also nowhere near enough for the lad, for his potential, his star quality (he's the only one that can do what he does in our squad) and his impact.

If you sell him, now that will buy you one decent championship player but nothing like the impact Brooks himself could have. He'll only get better this season too.

shithouse Nadine cost £6m for crying out loud, please hold on to the lad.

If the price is right for us (£10m+) AND the player wants the move (and the huge pay rise that comes with it :);)) it’s done.

No point bleating about it. The big fish eat the little fish. :shark:The big beasts eat the little beasts.

Best we can do will be to maximise the sale price.

Having seen the lad play just as much as the next Blade, £10m would be good business for us. He is STILL very raw.

UTB

Players we need to keep for next season (in order of preference)

1. Fleck
2. O'Connell

Pre glandular fever Brooks would have been between Fleck and O'Connell but since then I have mixed feelings if he should 3rd in the list or a bit further down . Dont know if in three months time he will be back to the player he was

Am I missing something here? All I've seen from Brooks so far is a decent nutmeg against the pigs and a well taken goal against Leeds. Lets not forget he was partly at fault for the pigs equaliser for not tracking back. Something which seems to be a recurring them in Brooks' appearances. The rest of his performances this season have been nothing special and some could even be described as bad . I'd much rather keep Fleck and O'Connell players who perform week in week out. Brooks is nearly 21, how long do you wait for a player to come good? I know he's had glandular fever but Seesegnon at 17 has started nearly every game for Fulham. I'm very much prepared to be proven wrong but I really don't think we've got another Walker quality player on our hands here. If selling Brooks means we can keep Fleck and sign a quality striker I'm all for it.
