Been released by Swansea.

Strong, quick and an eye for goal but definitely lost his way a bit (mainly thanks to City buying him and never playing him). 30, but would have a point to prove in England still.

3 in 3 for some random Qatar club was his last spell though...is that because he's on his way down or because they could stump up most of his wages? Also not sure how over his injuries he is.

On a free and if the wages weren't too bad, I think he could be a proper Wilder signing.

Thoughts?

Swansea fan told us when we went away that no one knows his actual age which is why they couldn't move him on. He said most Swansea fans think he is actually at least 3 years older than he 'officially' is.

I thought better of you TJB

If a championship team is releasing bony. There's definitely a reason, he's past it at their level. So he'd definitely be past it at premiership level. Also.. never saw him really do much of note whilst he was there if I'm honest

Swansea have released a few because of there salary’s. Bony was on massive wages as were others that Leroy Fer.

Bony was once a prospect but as others have said there’s a reason he’s non existent for Swansea and farmed out to some weird club in Jan

Not my cup of tea but I'm astonished he's only 30.

Crazy that he was once a £30m City player!

Exactly the type of mercenary I don’t want st our club tbh. Wouldn’t mind Leroy Fer, however.

When you look at a couple of Swansea's released players today, you get a cautionary tale about how to spend Premier League riches.
Bony - 12m and 3 goals. Huge wages. Released for nowt.
Narsingh - unproven in England, signed for 4m and made 33 appearances in 2 seasons. Leaves for nowt.
Even Fer and Olsson who did okay at the club had little resale value and had to be released after a few seasons of taking big wages.

We have to aim for players with better resale value who have wage drops written into their contracts. Hindsight is a cunt and all that, but still, we have to learn from others' failures.

He was on £120k a week. That's why they were so desperate for him to go this past season.

Some of the suggestions on here are dire at times. I don’t think this guy has scored a goal since Cameron was PM.

As for Leroy Fer, again a spent force. Would have been all for signing him 3-4 years ago. We should and will avoid this kind of player under Wilder. Think more Mason Holgate, Kasey Palmer, Che Adams type. May not be good enough either but at least haven’t maxed out and have something to prove.

If that wage is accurate for a bang average player who had maybe 1 good season then that’s another example of how much money is being spunked around the Premier League.

Obviously no-one has seen his bank statements but I think it's pretty much known to be accurate.

Partly funded by Man City apparently, but even so, next highest in their squad is £30K, which is still ridiculous when you take a step back.

Completely dominated our midfield last season so.if he is a spent force we are in deep shit next season

Huge exaggeration but let’s accept the difference of opinion and move on.

Something to note alongside that. He’s played for three PL clubs and was relegated with all of them within a few years.

Can't even score a penalty against Algeria in a shoot out, it's a no from me
