How did you come to that decision that they are out of their depth? Is it the fact that this was only their 7th premier league game in their careers? Or the fact that we've just played the European champions and arguably one of the best defenders the league has seen, who might I add was immense, if they were out of their depth we wouldn't have noticed Van Dijk, yet everyone appreciated how good he was and a few sites have given him MOTM.

VVD was very good apart from some wayward long passes. His interceptions and dominance in the air were very noticeable to me. He was like inspector gadget at times. That said I thought Egan was very good in the first half too.

I think it's more of a reference to his pitiful 4-5-1 park the bus poor away tactics where he was scared of every opponent.

And yet we should have beat liverpool 1-0. Warnock did fucking well for us and people seem very eager to jump on the guys back. Maybe he was getting the best out of a poor team maybe he knew we'd get slaughtered going toe to toe with them and so used the most productive tactics for the team we had.

He's brutally honest in his assessments. I do a little cringe on behalf of the players sometimes but it works! It's a great incentive to do well! Wilder takes no prisoners!

He treats the players like men ,calls it as it is any player that cant respond will be out .
Bassett was the same players have to show Bollox , football is no place for shrinking violets .
It's going to be a long hard season pussyfooting around the players will get us no where

What's with the Warnock bashing?! The last time I saw us against Liverpool, we won 1.1. The time before that, we won 2.0. Classic encounters, to be remembered forever. Colin was in charge for both

I thought Robinson looked petrified against Liverpool, totally lacked any confidence that he might be able to hurt their defence and McBurnie although slightly better, basically gave VVD license to do what he wanted by the second half. Mouset wasn't much better either, I know Didsy missed a few versus Southampton but he was causing their defence plenty of problems and showed no lack of confidence. Wilder has spent £35m on a number of strikers and the best two are still Sharp and McG. While still on the attacking theme, can't CW do the honourable thing and get Duffy back from his loan at Stoke.

WE need a striker that can put the ball in the net. The forwards have been poor so far. I think our Billy needs another chance but will het get one?

Sharp is still by far the best finisher at the club,before his sending off he made an immediate impact against Southampton and looked impressive.
I wouldn’t be surprised to see him start the next game.

I've seen every Liverpool game this season - we caused them more problems in terms of chance creation than any other opponent imo. Our 'useless' strikers were responsible in the creation of said chances. Matip and VVD were immense and deserve the plaudits for an outstanding defensive display. They were well tested and no mistake. Robertson and VVD were full of praise in their post match interviewsl. That said, Robbo still looks like he's playing within himself to me. Moose was very dangerous when he came on. Mcburnie was almost on the end of three crosses that required brilliant interventions from the Liverpool centre backs.

The Liverpool chances were from our bad ball retention and mistakes (first shot on target was their goal) Second half we had three good chances to score how many did Liverpool make? Again the chances they did have came from our mistakes, it's a strange game last week we made one chance and won 2-0.

And at the same time, our players have been brought in essentially from Lge 1 or the Championship and still on a (steep) PL learning curve.
Most of the Liverpool squad have had their skills honed in top class leagues throughout the world and then brought together at the cost of many many millions.
Let's just hope we can survive this first season and then see how the CW/AK project develops!

I was going to start another thread on exactly this topic...well...similar. But no doubt some may see it as a negative knee-jerk reaction to losing yesterday - it isn't. Like the majority of Blades I am absolutely delighted with how we've approached the Premiership. I said we'd "hold our own" before the season started and I am NOT one of those many fans who would "snap your hand off for 4th bottom". No way. We are far better than that.

However, the truth is, we need more quality up front. We are getting half-chances here and there in some games but don't have enough players with the quality to finish them. That's no negative against those lads who do ply their trade up front for us - they do their best - but at this level you just need to be that bit better. I think Mousset is of the right standard and he's just going to get better. Billy is the best finisher at the club - I'd be happy to see him on the pitch every match but that's probably not going to happen. But the others...sorry, I just don't think they quite at the cutting edge level they need to be. Robinson is a young lad and it will be interesting to see how he develops, but he's not sharp enough currently. That shot he had yesterday in the first half...you simply HAVE to hit the target with chances like that and he had enough time and space to do that - but rushed it. Similarly with McBurnie, lovely run into the box, had time on his side, then...puts it straight at the keeper. A bit of finesse there and it's in the top corner.

Small margins but these things can make the difference between success and failure. It will be interesting to see if Wilder thinks the same and looks to add more quality at the top of the pitch in Jan?
