I expected us to spend more, but in all honesty, not much more. I didn't for one minute expect us to spend the £6m approx we've got from Maguire and Walker.

Why the past tense, Luke? The window is still open and you might be pleasantly surprised. If things fall into place you certainly will be.

Agree with you here - Duffy is better at holding the ball up in midfield - Sami is more of player looking to pick a lock in and around the 18 yard box.

For me, Boro and Cardiff have shown we MUST hold the ball up in the opponents half and for sure Duffy never hides away from doing this. Sami appears a bit lost in that role. The ball didn't stick up top v Boro/Cardiff yet it was better v Barnsley even if we were at home and inferior opponents. If the forwards can't or will not hold the ball up then reckon we will now see more of Duffy than Sami. Perhaps rolls reversed now: Duffy to start for 60/65 mins to be replaced by Brooks or Sami.

Think it's unfair to judge carruthers he was dropped after playing likely the two Of hour harder games this season boro and Cardiff away , and Duffy played one of our easiest both good players nice problem to have

yes you could be right and they could be two of the harder games we play away, but as a club we can't have sentiment for anyone. Players need to deliver, and that exact point was made by Wilder - they either perform to a certain standard or he will go and find ones that do - either in the club or outside the club.

It was interesting that Stevens & Freeman had decent games after a couple of ropey ones.

We have up to now seen a "Mr Nice guy" from Wilder - I reckon he he a ruthless streak that we haven't seen yet.

I'm not saying you're wrong Rodley but the difference between us and Cardiff is that they're an established championship club with established championship players where as we aren't so in theory we would have to spend a lot more to compete.
Our team on Saturday, was basically our L1 winning team with the addition of Stevens.

...and Blackman but I take your point.

As I said, Rodley wasn't wrong but the point I was making is that if we spend similar to what Cardiff have spent then that doesn't mean we'll be as good because although the team from Saturday was mostly last years team they aren't established players at this level so they still have to prove themselves, unlike most of the Cardiff team.

Money doesn't guarantee anything but if you spend some and keep trying to improve it can only give you a better chance of success.

I will also state that if we can get a free transfer in, considering our wage budget who is obviously a good player I'd prefer us to go that way as it frees up other funds for a rainy day.

won 2 home games conceded none
unlucky to be robbed of a point at boro by a poor decision
out played top of the pile cardiff for long periods

hardly desperate times

let him incrementally make us better like he did last august

the way some go on on here youd think we look dreadful and are a team of hammonds

You must have been watching different games to me.

Saturday was the only game in which we completely dominated the opposition and thoroughly deserved to beat them.

Brentford surprised most of us with their attacking talent, and on the balance of play and chances deserved something from the game.
Middlesboro created far more than we did and deserved to win and whilst we should have had a point, it would have been harsh on them.
Cardiff were better than us. I don't remember a chance and we could have easily been 3-0 down.

Hopefully Saturday was the restart of our season based on how we played. We made an established championship team look very ordinary.

So clubs don't go to away games to soar was finishk it up then snatch a point late on .seem clubs do it to us often enough.the only thing Cardiff did better was finish
We had 60 to 40 possession
Was at home for the opener we deserved the win .they improved second half but we could have scored 4.

At the end of the day it doesn't matter how much we spend as long as we get the right players in.

Forum police alert!

This post should moved to the special "Too much common sense" board.

If we spend anywhere near £10M then I will be ecstatic, only if the players are any good.

You're really in for it now! You've compounded your initial sensible post with another far too sensible one.

Everyone knows we need to spend millions on 'established' and 'proven' Championship players. They should be on at least £25k per week (although obviously this does not count as 'spending', since it is fully covered by the magic money tree).

No they don't. Just a few gobby fuckwits who post the same fucking shite on a daily basis and do so because they're guaranteed to get attention from the same people, day in, day out, having the same fucking arguments.
I'm afraid this board has now become overrun by stupid repetitive cunts with agendas and infiltrated by pork to the extent that it's not possible to have a sensible discussion any more without these cunts hijacking threads. It's tedious and tiring and I don't understand why people keep giving them the oxygen of a reply.

Who invented the Skip?
I don’t know who invented the bloody skip, Bobby Moore, I don’t bloody know do I? I’m just sick and tired of you slagging farmers off. Are you going to apologise to them all on your show. Are ye?
Listen, you make these comments without any real knowledge about the pressures that we’re under. I just didn’t find it very funny that’s all.

First we get infiltrated by piggies and now bloody Vic Reeves has hijacked BushBlade's account.

There's a darkened room with a nice soothing couch calling out......

On play you are right but football isntwon on balance of play or possession - its won on goals and we have now gone 4 matches in a row where we should have a penalty !
Poor refereeing in all those games has cost us at least 4 or 5 goals.

Why can't you just say what you think instead of pussy footing around.

Games are not won on penalty decisions either.

We missed more chances on Saturday than contentious refereeing decisions that have gone against us in 4 games.

Genuinely laughed out loud at that.
