in the transfer market are going to be so critical. (Obviously).

But with Clarke out for 3, hasnson not in the plan, Stearman out until October, ched not match fit, Caruthers struggling at this level our squad is looking a bit threadbare and the backup players like Ludstam a bit wanting (admitted he not had much pitch time but his transfer was without protestations from the sellers).

If he brings in more mediocre you to plug the gaps we will be building a squad of average players on 2/3 year deals clogging up the buying of better players.

I think his next moves will be for a couple quick loans and any star buys will G et put off until JTW by which time McCabe will hope we've all forgotten about the Liverpool investment and he can start blaming it on lack of new investors.

He needs to decide If we are a little club now looking at the new cash rich clubs or one of the new clubs in the new world of high finance and risk clubs and then stay or sell ASAP.

Is Stearman out until October? What's the source for that?
Lundstram a bit wanting?
Carruthers struggling at this level?
Ched not match fit?

Not sure I agree with all those statements entirely.

I think if we manage to get the 3-4 he wants we'll have a strong squad. With perhaps 2 we should have enough cover in all positions

8 weeks in Wilders interview, he's worse than first thought.

And I'm being negative

Stearman now 6-8 weeks

McCabe's worth less than 100m in assets and far less in cash. He'd he'd have to flog all his property empire before he could raise what people estimate he's worth. It isn't his choice not to invest Liverpool-like sums, he hasn't got it and neither has the Prince as far as I know. So to make the next step forward the club needs new investment.

It will come, though, if we start sniffing around the Play Offs investors will take a look.

The level of current investment may be frustrating at times but I'm glad we've got a Blade in charge who will protect the interests and traditions of the club. I'd rather have McCabe and a guarantee of no new stadium by the M1, no merger with the pigs, no ditching of red and white stripes etc than a foreign investor willing to consider anything to make money out of us.

Jam tommora again?

The likes of Bournemouth, Brighton et al did the investment first. Rare for it to happen like Huddersfield. When McCabe (agree not knocking him or BRP who aren't rich enough to take us forward) got us in PL he didn't invest to keep us there he said PL money at end of season would be invested, jam tommora then and jam tommora now.

The notion that KM can just sell up is naive and starry-eyed; witness the queue of investors snaking around the car park.

Tufty can and will spend millions before the end of the month, if the players he wants become available. Contrary to Bladey belief, you can't kidnap them at gunpoint and drive them to the Lane blindfold in the boot of a Mercedes.

Bloody well said mate.

Missed your presence yesterday, as did the Sentinel.

Takings well down according to my favourite barmaid ;)

Cardiff have spent £5m this summer and are top. If we spend another couple of million (say two signings) we'll have spent the same. It isn't always about the amount of spending, but making the right signings.

I'm struggling to see why Unitedites are so preoccupied with this.

Bit over the top this lot isn't it?? Aye, we know it's critical (or at least important) who we bring in. But Wilder's been pretty bloody canny in the transfer market so far hasn't he?? No reason to think he'd bring in mediocrity.

Carruthers- 3 performances that weren't his best doesn't amount to say he's struggling at this level.
Lundstram- yeah yeah oraight, I know there's a stream on here slating him & comparing him to Hammond, but all gags aside we've seen him for minutes, it can take folk a while to settle, we don't know he may be carrying a niggle (first impressions can be wrong-ie Paul Coutts). And no they didn't just gladly let him come did they?? He was class for Oxford and plenty were after him.

Another few signings (and not losing Brooks could be as good as another) will boost us and mean we can have an even better season, but no idea what the panic and negativity of this post is about after yesterday and our start in general.

Ah but look at Wednesday / Leeds etc, it took them a matter of days to get new investment over the line didn't it?! And to be fair you can't move for billionaires down Fargate on a Saturday. ;)

Couple more signings and we'll have spent £5m+ all in. But then the number shouldn't matter, it's getting the right signings.

I'm not saying you're wrong Rodley but the difference between us and Cardiff is that they're an established championship club with established championship players where as we aren't so in theory we would have to spend a lot more to compete.

The fact is far less attractive propositions than the Blades have attracted very rich new owners and big investment. Even the dingles - a club half our size and with far less potential - are now being linked with big Chinese investment.

McCabe and the Prince are clearly incapable of providing the investment needed to take us forward. Unfortunately it seems they would rather cling onto power than actively seek the new owners and/or investment we need.

Change the names and it could be a copy and paste from a thread when Clough was manager.

they buy into the mantra that spending = success.. ipswich bought one player.. the right one

Because the times in the club's history where we have a better manager than many of our peers and significant resources when compared with our peers have been few and far between.

We have a very good manager at the moment but, like the Bassett era, it seems like the money isn't there.

Posting the same on here after every game is the internet equivalent of worry beads or one of those squeeze stress toys.

Getting new owners in is a novel idea though. Now the news is out I bet McCabes 'phone never stops ringing.

Now Barnsley look like being the new Man City or Chelsea, ahem, the pressures really on...

Did anyone genuinely believe there would be multi millions available ?

I don't think anyone did but when you get sell on clauses like we've had off the Walker and Maguire deals on top of a budget that we already had then I can see why people are bringing up the issue of not spending enough.

At the end of the day it doesn't matter how much we spend as long as we get the right players in.

You think McCabe and the Prince are capable of providing the investment needed to take us forward?

Not at the levels some people seem to expect. In fact nowhere near that level. Do you? The like minded who also believe that post it weekly as if they're the only ones who know this, when really it's an "I told you post" as if no one else hasn't come to that conclusion. Still, it keeps them going until the next "crisis".

We need three quality signings, striker, midfield and centre half. To make sure mid table I think. No more lower league, think they can make the step up signings. Players that can come in straight away and make a difference. Not crazy on wilders signings so far this season. Thomas and Lundsrom in particular could be a waste of money, you might add Evens to that too.

I didn't. That Jam Tomorrow stuff Phipps fed us when the Prince came in was never believable.

There won't be such funds, I assume, whilst the present regime remains in place. Be interesting to see how it all pans out. I think Wilder will keep us comfortably mid table barring many injuries (we've already been unlucky with Moore and Stearman and of course Baldock is playing the Lavery role of new signing who's not fit to play). Stay healthy, Billy.
