Wilders interview

Did anyone think it was strange how wilder went running down the tunnel at the end, didn't stay on the pitch with the players. Never seen him do that before
Didn't notice him go straight down the tunnel but I did wonder where he was when the players went round the pitch.

Robinson cooped for a lot of stick but he gets my praise. Both him and his assistant stood and clapped the minutes applause, a lot of hate for the guy but I think he's a decent manager. He will get Charlton in the top 6 next season if he is left to building the team.

Robinsons win ratio stats are poor . My view the bloke is actually fighting for his job . Charlton do have a good squad , but can Robinson motivate them . Answer No.

He reminds me of a typical spin merchant in the other scouser Madkins mode. Robinsons stock has fallen , with the next job being a TV pundit . We have dodged a bullet with him not getting the job at BDTBL.

To be honest I haven't got too many issues with Robinson's interview. He doesn't credit us enough for the spells where we dominated but it's true that they rattled us today, the first 20 minutes especially.

We did play very well in patches but make no mistake that was the toughest match we have had for a while.
Completely agree.

He said what he had to say from his and Charlton's perspective.

I can't understand all the vitriol flying at him on here at all.

I don't think Wilder has any problem with him either, I think he's just a bit peed off that teams with good players like Charlton come to the Lane and raise their game but don't perform so well against lesser opposition. At the end of the day that works to our advantage if we do our job well.

I wish Charlton and him all the best for next season.

One of my favourite away days and one of the most welcoming and knowledgeable set of fans in the country.

Wilder said, not a literal quote ' im allowed an opinion and I will say this, they are 31 points behind us for a reason.' He was certainly having a dig at someone.
I think he was having a dig at their players for only turning up on the big occasions, as their record against the top teams would appear to testify.

Maybe something to do with this. Robinson must have watched the first 15 then popped the rugby on. Robinson says something about "we made the league leaders change their shape" to which wilder responded to in one of his post match interviews by saying something along the lines of "I'm not gonna get embarrassed about having to change our shape".

If that was the case then fair play and credit to Wilder for mixing things up and making sure we got back in the game, unreal manager. Robinson a jealous prick.

To be fair, can't see too much wrong with that interview.

my personal opinion is they started very well and scored a well taken free kick and controlled things for the first 15 , they we woke up and for the ast 10-15 of the 1st half we were dominating
the 2nd half i felt we controllled the game with them having a few moments but nothing really to write home about,

think Robinson is just a little bit green of Wilder !

also as someone said in another thread the other day he certainly is starting to get a look of Steve Evans about him!
they are obviously still getting well fed at Charlton despite their problems !

And he actually starts to talk about hydration & fitness levels at his club while he himself looks like a slimming world reject.

He's simply playing lip service to the camera.

I think all this has to be viewed in light of Robinson being under a fair amount of pressure from his own fans and putting a, potentially job-saving, spin on events.

You only have to look at Roygbiv's views from to see they make a distinction between KR and straight talking, no nonsense Chris Wilder. Suggests they're used to his PR post-match waffle.

Indeed. Reminds me a little of Adkins and Clough end of season interviews the last two seasons in that regard.

All in reply to this I think........and a bit of the pre match interview in which Robinson attributed out success to splashing the cash around etc.

Robinson thinks they dominated large parts of the game.....

He thinks he forced us to change our shape.....

Calls both our goals "tap ins"

Finished off the stronger team..........

He thinks they outplayed us, possession, job lot.....

The amount Karl Robinson touches his face/head gives all of his affectations and self congratulation away. Insecure.

Didn't notice him go straight down the tunnel but I did wonder where he was when the players went round the pitch.

Tbf Wilder has done this a few times this season, suddenly running off the pitch. Most noticeable was at Peterborough where he was clapping the fans then shot off as though he'd just remembered he'd left the bath running.

I noticed Knill and Ward yesterday look as though they were commenting on him suddenly running off.

Tale of two managers, one fair appraisal of a good game , the second a scouse twat!

Be interested to see if one of the players didn't go back out on the pitch and wilder went to have words

Wilder was clearly annoyed about something!. Robinson is just a smarmy scouse wanker with an attitude!!. I'm so happy that he never became a blades manager!. We'd have been in serious shit with him and we'd be joining Coventry in league 2. Up the blades.

What did you think of Ricky Holmes btw? A player some of us thought would be joining us at the start of this season after starring for Wilder at Northampton?

I thought he was very good personally although he showed a lack of composure on a few occasions with his finishing. But his energy and effort was a real driving force for them and his free kick was well taken (but I think Moore was poorly positioned and should at least have got a hand to it).

I was also impressed with Tony Watt up front. He looks like a Wilder type player. Full of energy and threat and ran his socks off.

Nathan Byrne was quiet by his standards. Remember he was the guy who ran us ragged for Swindon two seasons ago. Just back from injury which might explain it - but I thought they played him too deep as he was brilliant in the attacking full back role before.

Ricky Holmes had a good game but should have done better with his chances. Tony Watt really caught my eye for Charlton, I wasn't aware of him at all but like you say never stopped, a real handful and a threat - would like to see him at the lane if that's his usual standard of performance.

A Bradford mate of mine went to their game at The Valley and told me Watt was really dangerous and was Charlton's best player against them.

You do realise that in an alternative universe a Charlton team managed by Chris Wilder has just been and done us 3-0 at the Lane, and this board is in meltdown once again after hearing Karl Robinson trotting out his excuses.....the alternative universe Blades look like they are going to miss out on the play offs once again......

Indeed it was a very good move by Wilder. Holmes was playing a similar role to Duffy and as we had no DM on him, he had far too much space. We changed to a 442 diamond shape and put Basham on Holmes like Warnock used to with Monty. It worked a treat and really got us back into the game after they started far better.

Not a bad interview from a Charlton perspective, but the stats suggest it wa an even game overall - possession 48 vs 52%, shots 15 each and the only area where they were dramatically different was the number fouls us 2 them 11 - make of it what you will.

They were cynical in typical Robinson fashion and the ref was incredibly lenient not to book their players on a few occasions. Remember 1 promising counter-attach when Sharp was taken out to break up the attack and I was amazed that there was no booking.

Listening to, and watching Robinson, where we're involved, reminds me of Mourinho and Man Utd in the years before he got the job.

But our stock is now rising as Robinson’s drops meaning hopefully, he won’t be getting this job any time soon.

Hopefully. I was thinking in general through over the last few years, rather than just this last week.

He electrifies the team

Not disputing the performance Rey but if he or anyone of their players performances for that matter were to that standard every week they wouldn't be in the position they find themselves in today, which is what Wilder was alluding to in his interview.

Wilder could perhaps get him to maintain his performances throughout the season if he were to bring him here but there has to be serious doubts regarding any Charlton players attitude. My guess is that Wilder won't bring any player from Charlton to Bramall Lane due to the standards he sets and that would suit me just fine to be honest.

Didn't hear Wilder post match as I must have already got home.
DID hear him as I was parking up and had to laugh when Paul Walker asked about Coutts and Fleck with a question (possibly rehearsed) like "Do they remind you of anyone you played with here" and Wilder replied "You mean Bob Booker and John Gannon with their hooking it on". You could hear the laughter in his voice as he said it.
