Wilders interview

He certainly went for it with his "There's a reason why my team are 30 points ahead... proper footballers" comments. Not heard him like that often.
I loved that - there was a bit of spice in it wasn't there. He gets the tone right nearly always, even when we've lost or been shit.

All in reply to this I think........and a bit of the pre match interview in which Robinson attributed out success to splashing the cash around etc.

Robinson thinks they dominated large parts of the game.....

He thinks he forced us to change our shape.....

Calls both our goals "tap ins"

Finished off the stronger team..........

He thinks they outplayed us, possession, job lot.....

Honest to god, what fucking game was that twat watching? Seriously?

"but my players are proper players, like I said when the going gets tough they don't turn away or shy away from challenges...."

Wonder why these players run their blood to water for him?

For 10/15 minutes Charlton played really well, but that's not good enough. They couldn't sustain it, and once we had put them on the back foot they were no better than, say, Gillingham.

They ought to be up there with us, but they are not, and it's somebody's fault for not turning a group of talented individuals into a properly functioning team.

They indeed looked good and came with a gameplan. One that involved coming out all guns blazing, pressing and running the lines to exploit our wing backs.

Today Charlton were tactically brilliant, but fell short to, ultimately, the better side. Thought our quality showed in the end even though we didn't play all that well.

I think he was having a go at their players, 'my players are proper players' and the management team 'whooping and oleing'. It wouldn't surprise me if something was said in the tunnel after the game that riled him.

It might just be the pressure is starting to show itself. It must be bloody stressful to be so close to promotion. I think it will show in the players performances from now until it's settled as well. Perhaps it already is, hence the slow start today. Lead legs.

Maybe something to do with this. Robinson must have watched the first 15 then popped the rugby on. Robinson says something about "we made the league leaders change their shape" to which wilder responded to in one of his post match interviews by saying something along the lines of "I'm not gonna get embarrassed about having to change our shape".

If that was the case then fair play and credit to Wilder for mixing things up and making sure we got back in the game, unreal manager. Robinson a jealous prick.

Not a bad interview from a Charlton perspective, but the stats suggest it wa an even game overall - possession 48 vs 52%, shots 15 each and the only area where they were dramatically different was the number fouls us 2 them 11 - make of it what you will.

Robinson cooped for a lot of stick but he gets my praise. Both him and his assistant stood and clapped the minutes applause, a lot of hate for the guy but I think he's a decent manager. He will get Charlton in the top 6 next season if he is left to building the team.

Did anyone think it was strange how wilder went running down the tunnel at the end, didn't stay on the pitch with the players. Never seen him do that before

That was the last time we'll ever play a Karl Robinson team in the league

Listening to wilders interview on the way home, sounded a bit pissed off to us, did summat go off between the benches? He said they were giving it whoosh and ole! Well I never heard there fans so I presume something had got up our chrisseys nose, anybody near the benches see out?
Thought it was a cracking interview and he was bang on the money. Love the heart of Wilder, even after a win like that he doesn't forget things that riled him when we were losing.

You can be sure that his halftime team talk informed the players that they needed to be clinical and shut up the whoops and oles

Love this fella

Robinson said before the game he was "jealous of United", perhaps he is now jealous of Wilder who was way below him in reputation maybe just over a year ago and has now made himself noticed throughout football.

There's pressure on Robinson as evidenced by their fans' comments and he can't help but compare his circumstances to Wilder. After all he has been linked with us more than once in the past.

Factors that affected the game.

1: We started slowly as though we thought we could simply turn up and win.
2: Charlton caught us by surprise as it's rare to see a team in league 1 show us no respect and actually go at us in a positive offensive way.

3: The main factor though was that they started with a high pressing hi energy pressing game meaning for the 1st 20 minutes our midfield struggled to get possession and work it's magic.

BUT we've seen a few teams start pressing us this season in the 1st half
But playing that closing down/ pressing game is physically very demanding.
Charlton (like many teams) ran out of steam the 2nd half and our midfield was able to control the game ans work its magic.

I think all this has to be viewed in light of Robinson being under a fair amount of pressure from his own fans and putting a, potentially job-saving, spin on events.

You only have to look at Roygbiv's views from to see they make a distinction between KR and straight talking, no nonsense Chris Wilder. Suggests they're used to his PR post-match waffle.

Listening to, and watching Robinson, where we're involved, reminds me of Mourinho and Man Utd in the years before he got the job.

Great interview from Wilder, chalk and cheese with Robinson who sounds more than a little confused...

I noticed that as well. He wasn't waving or smiling either - maybe just desperate with, a touch of the runs!
