To be fair, the chap who got hit is, I’d estimate, in his 70s. He didn’t see it coming and it smacked him full in the face while he was looking at his phone, sending his specs flying down the stand. He looked dazed for some minutes afterward.

There will be an overreaction to this, for sure. But “so what” is a pretty dodgy take in its own right.

I agree it’s not a big deal in the grand scheme of things. No one would really mention it if we were winning matches.

I think there's a huge difference between a player taking a shot, it missing the goal, and whacking a spectator in the face and somebody whacking the ball in anger towards a stand full of people, where there's a high probability it's going to hit somebody in the face.

I suspect we've all done stupid stuff in anger, but it's not his finest moment.
