Wilder to Watford

Sounded more like himself than I’ve heard in ages. Confident in himself and his assessment; not the sound of a man under pressure to prove something.
Obviously the target of his monologue was different but that was quite reminiscent of his Northampton monologue against their owner before he came to us.

Utter embarrassment- he’s destined for L1 at best. Pockets full of cash and now deluded. He managed one team through the leagues but, forget the surprise season, crashed and burned when it came to playing with the big boys.
Sorry Chris, but you’re beginning to sound and look like the sad divorcee who starves herself and posts vids on tik-tok showing how fit she really is……..
Speaking of sounding like a bitter divorcee...

I read it
Forget the good season ( the surprise season
Focus on when we were shit
Exactly- I said way back that the PL is a huge step up for everyone, players and coaches. Very few have the ability to thrive. Warnock was one and he’s another. Great in the lower leagues but can’t cut it at the top level. Sadly, he seems incapable of managing successfully in the Championship now either, or are we ignoring Boro and Watford despite what Carrick has achieved with the same squad? My issue with him is how he tears into players in public, something he did here, at Boro and now Watford. It’s unprofessional and guaranteed to backfire.

He finished 9th with the lowest valued squad on the lowest wage budget
So I'd say he can hack it at the top level

Yes - a shocking manager.

Apart from getting Oxford promoted to the Football League, saving Northampton from near-certain relegation, winning League Two with Northampton the following season with 99 points, winning League One with United with 100 points, getting promoted to the Premiership with a team full of castoffs, finishing 9th in the Premier League with the smallest wage budget in the league and almost single-handedly transforming our entire club, what has he ever actually done?

Many managers have similar records over a purple patch.

I thought he was fantastic when he let his team do the talking.

As soon as he started doing it he was on a loser, his uncompromising, rubbing people up the wrong way shines through and pisses people off around him

His bullying antics might work with lower level players who haven't got the same options, but the further up the ladder you go the more likely you will come up against players with many choices and egoes as big as your own

whilst Simon Jordan is there to create controversy and subsequently sell airtime there is a lot of sense in some aspects of what he says.
carrick picked middlesborough up by the coat tails and turned them and there players into a better team. He has not managed to change anything at Watford yet says it is all the players fault, subsequently on two occasions in his last management jobs he has not managed to effect change.
whilst he initially did a wonderful job at bdtbl; as soon as things became difficult, he turned the towel in and blamed everyone but himself, bit of a theme there.

Simon Jordan's the biggest know-nothing cunt in sports broadcasting. The perfect inverse ratio of gob size to brain size. Right up there with Adrian Durham.

I still remember his argument with Robbie off Arsenal Fan TV, he got fucking annihilated.

In a way they are both right. Wilder is spot on about the Watford players and Simon is right about the way Wilder left us. It’s not disputed about his star is fallen.

Busted flush sadly.

Watching Watford playing at Bramall Lane. I though there is a team looking to get the manager sacked. They had quality all over the pitch but they only went through the motions.
Wilder or any manager would not be able to turn them round in half a season. The culture looks to be toxic.

When is wilders contract up to, cant see it getting extended, how his star has fallen, needs to go down the leagues and get his mojo back, i think he would be good for a team like donny, get his old boys with him and he could re invent himself

End of the season. It wasn’t ever going to be extended.

Had he got them into the playoffs and up it would

He needs to drop to L1, players who he can motivate rather than lads who don’t know who he is/think they are better than him

Maybe Blackpool/Portsmouth/Bolton type

No, it wouldn’t.

CW hit the jackpot at Utd when he landed a magical formula that took teams some time to work out and find a way to negate it.
Other than a short period of success at Boro he's been unable to repeat his success since.
Some my view his time at Watford as a free hit but he's again been unable to get a tune out of a decent bunch of players.
His exit at Utd and public flirting with Sunderland and more recently Burnley won't have gone unnoticed either. He may get another shot at the Champ albeit a lesser fancied team or have have to try the Scottish Champ. Either way, he's on a downwards trajectory.

Why bother sacking Wilder, to replace him with Valerian Ismael.

Carrick has done well at Boro but I reckon had they stuck with Wilder they would have eventually got going and probably finished in the top 6.

Watford is a basket case, it's clear there is a mentality issue in that squad. You could see it before wilder went there and he's not sorted it either.

It's where I would say a Warnock would sort out better I reckon. But wilder has his own qualities too.

People saying he needs to drop to L1.
If I were Southampton I'd potentially be looking at him. Could be right sort of setup.
