Wilder to Forest

Just done some digging and been talking to someone well in at Forest ,apparently the American take over has been approved and should go through just in time for the end of the window ,with the present owner managing to hold on to 20%. gary Rowett is almost a cert for the job if wages can be agreed but they can only get loans in. Also Henry Lansbury is on strike and is refusing to play as a transfer to Villa is in the offing. A very poor mans Poyet and an embarrassment to football Lansbury in my opinion. Anyway he reckons they are down with Rotherham and Wigan or Burton no matter who they get in.
 

Surely if anyone was after a up and coming manager Paul Heckingbottom would be the first on to look at

Neither of us know what's going on in his head but modern football isn't littered with examples of managers turning down offers from bigger clubs or for more money.

I with you. There's clearly a risk we could lose him as he's looking that good at the minute.

Money talks in football. I'm sure Wilder will feel some loyalty to us, and that might be enough to fill the gap between what we can pay and what others will.

Just about anyone who watches United at the moment would want him in charge. There's no doubt we'll come under enormous pressure in future. I think there's a lot of nativity being shown on this thread.

Fair points alco, money does talk in football, but for the moment I think Wilder's immediate future is with the Blades. It all depends on what progress we make on and off the pitch.

One question; nativity?

Doubt CW would jump anywhere, look what he has to gain by staying here. If we go up (especially in auto), his credentials will go through the roof, the man that did what a handful of other managers could not do, and back to back with his Northampton promotion.

Leaving now would make no sense to anyone, especially a born and bred Blade fan who just happens to be managing his boyhood club and has steered them to the top of the table.

If someone offered him a million £ more in wages, would accepting it make sense?

Hope all that's true, time will tell. I'd like to think that being happy remains important to Wilder, but if an offer came in that tripled his wages that might be the straw that tests his allegiance to the Blades. All a bit academic at the moment, and for now I can't see much upsetting Wilder's reign as manager of the Blades.

It's not just the Forrest scenario I'm picking up on. There's this widespread belief that we're safe because he's a Blade. That suggestion is based more hope than evidence, which is that everyone has a price.

The average premier league manager earns £3m a year. The average league one manager earns £75k. If we collapsed in the way we did after we sold Blackman, Wilder would be a candidate for the sack, and 80 percent of this board would be pushing for it. How much loyalty does he, or should he show?
 

It's not just the fact that he's a blade, wilder has bided his time making steps up.

He's confident in his ability so not going to see it as his last chance

I doubt anyone has offered to tripple his wages at any point in his career.

Only possibilty could be the switch to Northampton, when he did jump ship.

Are they offering to triple his wages?

If he's confident he'll take us even further he'll not see the need to jump quickly because if he takes us to near the top of the championship he'd get even better offers

No idea, but given the exponential rise in salaries up the divisions, at the rate he's going it's beyond doubt that someone will.

In a business were chairman and board of directors have short memories , it's as easy to fire as hire a manager .

Call me old fashioned but Wilder does appear to be old school of a handshake , or my word is my bond .

The thing what he has bred in the club , which has been missing from McCabe down is loyalty and pride .

Wilder has started a revolution in a short period of time .

Let's see what us fans are like when , if , he loses 3 on the trot .

Start of the season they were rumblings he would get us relegated . However he turned us round , and now on route for promotion ,

Wilder will not jump ship , but will go if he is given false promises , poor backing . He is no spring chicken , and can move forward with the Blades . All about trust on all sides , including the supporters. Truth be known , we can be fickle fuckers .

Yep, totally get that scenario Alco, and like I always say when people say players are mercenaries, just after the money, "if you work at WH Smith and Boots offer to double your wages, why would it be wrong to take the offer?".

If a Premier League club come knocking, it would be hard for him to say no, and maybe even upper half Championship, but anyone skirting around the bottom of the championship would not be appealing, at least I can't think it would. CW has the chance to have back to back promotions, with two different clubs, which should be a factor in his thinking.
 
When he takes us Eddie Howe like into the top half of the Premier League in four years or so that's when we may need to worry, it's about the time Southgate will be being kicked out and England will come calling...

That doesn't mean a thing if it seems just based in money.
We up his salary to £500K, so another club offers £600K
So we agree to match it, then the other club offers £700K
So we agree to match that, the the other club offers £800K.

If it's all down to salary then there are many clubs in the Championship we can't compete with
But it's NOT only about money. There are other factors, location, ambition, relationships etc.
 
Can you imagine NA thumping his chest and kissing the badge? No. CW would need one hell of an offer to move. He's a championship manager in all but title at the minute and he'll be loving it. We don't need to worry yet.

In the future? Maybe. But not now.
 
He's a genuine Blade in his dream job and has the potential to achieve great things here and be a legend. I don't think he'd sacrifice this opportunity for many things.

He believes in his own ability. I don't think he's insecure enough to jump at the first chance he gets to get to the top level.

Money doesn't seem to be his priority - his interviews suggest he has no respect for players who only care about the money.

But if it did come down to it I'd like to think we'd offer him a big salary to keep him here.
 
I would imagine it was written into Wilder's contract that his wages depended on success and in which league we were in, just like many players contracts are. Next year dependent on promotion I'm sure he will be getting a competitive Championship wage assuming we are promoted and it looks a good bet at the moment.
