Wilder sums today up

twists and turns
part and parcel of the run in

had we been just 3 points ahead would have been a set back
as we still are 2 games results in front, and games fast disappearing ,,,, no biggy

Boltons going to get really tested in their next 3 away games, weve got far lest testing opposition ahead

Couldn't get a ticket for the game so stopped in and watched the Sky football show. Paul Jewell was the man watching the Oldham v Blades game and he commented several times that both teams were trying their best but the pitch was so bad that it wasn't possible to play good football on it.

Tony Cottee was watching Bury v Fleetwood and he said it was a terrible match in which Bury were, if anything, the better side. He gave it up as 0-0 long before the end. There was nothing wrong with Bury's pitch according to him; Fleetwood just played badly on it.

Come on people, we drew. We didn't lose. Se remain the same distance from 3rd as we were before with a game less to play. The big downer was Bolton winning again. We were all saying " we only have to win 4 from 8". Whats the problem?

Anybody dismissing it as an excuse should just look at that.

As I said, it's even worse than it looks. How the fucking hell are you supposed to control and move the ball on that?

Terrible pitches are a leveller. We've used that in the past to our advantage.

No excuses were made, we didn't play well, we got a point, we keep on going.

Hopefully when Bolton turn up on Tuesday, Oldham will take advantage of their experience of how to play the pitch

FFS the pitch was the same for both teams. Like ours is. If our far superior players can't work a way to beat relegation fodder don't trot out excuses.
No-one says every pitch has to be the same size and shape, same quality and every team has to play the same way.
Suck it the fuck up FFS.

Seem to recall Tony Currie, Alan Woodward, Keith Eddy, Geoff Salmons, Gil Rees etc playing week in, week out on playing surfaces at least as bad as Oldham's.

It seems to happen in 13's for us.

68 - I don't know anything about this, but a league table search tells me we went down from the first, and were two points behind fourth bottom (i'm assuming 3 went down then) Sheffield Wednesday. Did we go down on the last day?

81 - Relegated to the Fourth on the last day after Don Givens missed a pen that he shouldn't have even been taking.

94 - Relegated on the last day despite being almost halfway up the league not much before. I was too young to remember but i'm sure i've read before that even at certain times in play on the last day we were 4 or 5 places above the drop zone.

07 - Relegated on the last day after Warnock decided not to bother trying to win at Villa the week before.

There's no curse anywhere but in anyone's head, but i've got to say i'm not looking forward to the last day of the 2019/20 season!!

On the other hand, I'm looking forward to the 2018/19 season - because there's no way we'll get relegated to L1 again for a long time.

Warnock and mccabe have built the club up from a worse position than this so hopefully next season with wilder hopefully making most of the football decisions we can go from strength to strength

It was good to hear him on Goals on Sunday saying he's already been looking at Preston and Huddersfield's models for recruitment in the Championship. I know others will say he should be worrying more about the next five weeks, but I think what is setting him apart is his ability to look further forward without losing sight of the here and now.

What fucking Tevez curse?

The only people who deem the Tevez incident to be the cause of our downfall are journos and morons.

We've been perfectly capable of managing our own disastrous decline, thank you very much.

Indeed. Also, even if there were one do people really think it's ended by return to the Championship – the division we were initially relegated to? Journalistic claptrap.

To be honest I thought we might well get turned over at Oldham (many factors including - the pitch, their current form and home record, the pitch, ex-piggie manager, their need for points, the pitch, nothing for them to lose, our style of play, the pitch, a weakness on our left flank and we aren't a side best suited to aerial football) and, having gone a goal behind, I'm happy with a point as I think this was one of our more difficult fixtures on the run-in. I think Bolton will get 3 points there given their "style", but I obviously hope not. Our destiny is in our own hands and we need to look forward and do the business in front of us and stop looking over our shoulders. For me, after the poor start we had, the only failure this season would be if we don't get automatic after being so well placed.

I can't even bear the thought of not getting automatic ..if we don't we won't go up through the pay offs

Our record at Baseball ground when we had these players you mentioned

April 1969 - Derby 1 Blades 0
January 1970 - Derby 3 Blades 0
November 1971 - Derby 3 Blades 0
October 1972 - Derby 2 Blades 1
April 1974 - Derby 4 Blades 1
August 1974 - Derby 2 Blades 0
December 1975 - Derby 3 Blades 2

So your point is? ;)

Sadly it will suit Bolton far more than us.

What a ridiculous arguement ,it wasn't football ,it wasn't suited to footballers ,it wasn't suited to football. It wasn't a case of anybody worked anything out it was just a lottery.

Agree.
Anyone who argues otherwise is plain daft. All that crap about same for both teams....what fuckwittery. Yes it is, and some teams are suited better because their players don't get any benefit from having a good surface because they don't use it. Just like we didnt use it under Bassett, Warnock or the worst culprit Blackwell to name a few.

The middle of the pitch was shocking, and that's where our footballers look to pass the ball quickly and accurately. Not forgetting to mention just running on it, anyone who has tried sprinting in sand will know that your forefoot gives way and can then risk over stretching the Achilles.

Was a good point, remains a good point. In the end we had chances to win, we didn't take them. Tomorrow is another game.

Winning them.
