At the end he was jubilant more so than usual. There was a bit of take that, now what you gotta say and he pushed Billy back to the fans. Understandable given the meltdown last week. A good old dose of perspective does wonders. It was a good day and win. Still work to do. Signings are needed but we'll be right. Pubs wise Maple in Westfield shopping centre. £5.30 a pint but when needs must. Couldn't see what the pen was for it looked soft but we'll take it obviously. UTB.

I'd say.. See what happens when you play Duffy and Sharp!

It was Duffys ball to Freeman that split the defence for the equaliser.. then obviously Sharp on the end of it. So I'd say it's hardly a "Take that", it should be a hands up "Yep, you were right"

Listening to him now, anyone who was giving him pelters this week must be cringing through that. Those meltdowns were a fucking embarrassment. Give your heads a wobble FFS. He’s got far too much credit built up to go after him like some did.

Freeman played really well.

Spot on. Credit to CW for realising this and playing Basham in the defensive midfield role. 3-1-4-2 worked again and has kicked started our season.

The main thing for me was that we dug in and got the result after going ahead. Showed a lot of bottle. Think about how many times we totally dominated and dropped points last year--today was the opposite.

Still some issues that want sorting, though.

People were moaning that he didn't play Sharp and Duffy and played the 3 midfielders he did

They were right

Exactly, if he stuck with the same team and we won then he has every right to stick to fingers up to the fans.

But the fans were right and fair play to Wilder for not being stubborn and sticking with the same system. A lot of managers would have dug their heels in and not changed it.

Yeah resting Billy, Duffy and freeman worked wonders to set up that result today.

And brilliant by McG, come on, win pen, score pen, go off. Job done

Point is Wilder picks the team and either you back him or you don't. I would have started Duffy first two games. But doesn't say results would have been any different. And everyone has a different opinion of who should start and who should be dropped. Going apeshit because he's picked a different starting 11 to what you think is ridiculous. Anyway we won. In Wilder we trust.

Top work from tufty, now if only Baldock was left footed.

I would 'take that' if he played the same team and we went to boro and put a performance in. We didn't. He rang the changes we all asked for and we won.

I don't get your point ?

The point is there could be a multitude of reasons why Wilder didn’t pick Duffy and Sharp. Innumerable reasons that we simply aren’t privy to. Wilder’s judgement isn’t beyond criticism, but he deserves patience and loyalty given how exceptionally he’s performed for us in the last two seasons. Not throwing under the bus two games into a 46 game season.

I disagree. We are more than entitled to question our managers decisions.

If we have blind faith in everything our manager does, we'd be better supporting them in S6.

So criticising team selection is throwing under the bus ?
If they had a niggle and weren't at it in training ,Why put them on the bench?
My own personal gripe wasn't with Duffy and Sharp being out (I'm just playing devils advocate )but I his negative approach to games since mid season last time round and in particular that spectacularly slow and uncreative midfield he picked to match up two teams that tore us apart

I'd prefer the old Chris who used to inspire his players to be brave by being brave himself

He's a good manager and he found a way to win today and he's working with his hands tied but if he picks negative sides and expects people to just shrug their shoulders and accept it then that wont do anyone any favours

MASSIVE POSITIVES tonight - it must be blatantly obvious now to CW that Evans and Lundstram are a couple of duck-eggs who cannot possibly stand in for Coutts and Duffy
As one of the moaners I take some responsibility for being negative about our midfield pairing of Evans and Lundstram, but keep my faith in CW nonetheless...... good on yer Chris!

How bizarre that some fans seem to think they're responsible for Wilder changing his team rather than him working it out for himself.

no-one is going apeshit you are overreacting.. it’s just bantz on an internet forum .. people like to analyse the situation .. some people are coarse in their assessment but ultimately it means FA unless you think CW comes on here for advice

doubt that's the case at all - but it's a bit sad when fans can't express an opinion on what team is picked and how good/bad/indifferent players perform.

To be honest I wouldn't have played Duffy in the Swansea game, thought he had an average preseason from what I saw and I didn't question it really but as soon as it became clear that there was no connection between midfield and attack I'd have probably put him on.

Sharp was the one I didn't get. Him and McG were our best combo coming into the season imo.

Opinions are like arseholes and all that though.

Just glad we've got going. You could see the players enjoying themselves today, I missed that.
