Difficult to see how we'll win a few on yesterday's evidence. Birmingham were average and we had one chance in the whole game and other than that barely a shot on target.

Birmingham were average, we were average and we drew. If you can't see us picking up a few wins, presumably you can't see Birmingham doing so either; you'll get great odds on us both to go down

I would rather watch the kids plays under a positive forward thinking manager that sets us to play just like Sunderland did they didn't have the best squad on paper their squad.was one of the youngest and they played with pace and width and had a go.

If you are talking about Sunderland in the promotion season, then they were crap for months. They limped into the playoffs and were crap in the final. If you are talking about last season, then it was virtually a completely different team, with an enormous financial outlay.

I'm not going to say Wilder out. However I would suggest him maybe managing Leeds United Seniors. He is signing as many past-it Leeds players as he can. Bamford is doing ok. However we are stuck with ex Leeds players who we are paying wages to. Rothwell, rubbish. Shackleton never played well for us and still not fit.
Phillips probably on a large wage, Wilder says he won't be available for a few matches. He only lasted a few matches last season. Why are we wasting money on him when he's hardly going to play?

It is far too early. Give it 10 games.

Having said that, people are entitled to have their view on what they are watching, and to say if they don’t like it. That’s got nothing to do with “entitlement” or anything else. My view is that the squad is nowhere near what it should be for a club with our recent history. So much money squandered on shit with seemingly no plan for building a squad, and the blame for that has to go in a few different directions, including Wilder.

But we’ll see what it looks like once the transfer window closes.

I’m one for giving the manager/player a chance as I did with Selles and Cannon and I’m looking forward to replying to these posters whichever way the season goes.

I can certainly imagine us picking up a point there because we did a few months ago despite being down to 10 men for the majority of the game.

Bristol City, Norwich, Pompey and Stoke all got beat at home yesterday, I imagine none of their fans are as negative as this thread.

I’m absolutely convinced that Wilder isn’t the right man to take us forward in the long term and he’s nowhere near the same manager he was a decade ago. No way Wilder MK1 puts up with Cannon but Wilder MK3 seems intent on stubbornly proving all of us PlayStation managers wrong.

HOWEVER

It’s the second summer in a row where the season kicks off and the squad is nowhere near complete. All this bollocks about knowing what we need and getting it done early hasn’t materialised and while I think Wilder probably has a very short shortlist of targets it’s not going to be all his fault that the club conduct their business at absolutely glacial pace. There’s no way the 11 that kicked off yesterday is the 11 Wilder envisioned us starting the season with.

I knew exactly how the game would go as soon as I saw the team sheet. May as well play with 10 men when Cannon is in the side and as much as I like O’Hare he is ineffective when played out on the left.

I thought Cooper looked back to his best, McGuiness was our outfield MOTM and Tanganga had a half decent game and it went wrong from there.

Seriki and McCallums distribution was both awful. They constantly either whacked the ball over our strikers head on to their humongous defenders who looked like the Ents from LOTR. If they weren’t doing that they curled it blind down the touch line to nobody.

Peck and Rothwell / Arblaster got bypassed a lot of the time by the defenders poor distribution and the strikers total lack of ability to hold the ball up. They had a couple of moments where we did attempt to play football but weee largely ineffective.

Bamford and Cannon had next to no proper service but didn’t stretch the back line and were very ineffective at holding up any scraps that went their way. Cannon seemed to do his best to move his body out the way of actually competing for the ball and half heartedly then tried to block and clearances after initially being favourite to the ball.

Ohare and Donnovan had no one to link up with. They tried to busy themselves but they were always a mile away from AWOL teammates and nothing really came off.

Our throwins and set pieces were wank. Just lob it anywhere and hope for the best.

On the odd few occasions we did get the ball down and play actual football we looked capable of winning them game. Just unfortunately that was about 10% of the game time.

It was a mixture of classic wilderball and not having the right players at the club.

It’ll be a long slog of a season if nothing drastically changes before the end of the window but we can’t really be calling for a mangers head until we’ve seen what we look like with the final squad together.

And with the amount of money Brum have spent over the last few years I thought they were shite as well. They were better than us when we were aimlessly lumping it forward but when we tried to play football we were better than them somehow.

I thought Tanganga was v good and McGuiness did everything you would ask of him, and i will say again i fail to see what Soutor offers that is worth more that £3m tops - move on
I was impressed with Donovan
I think Wilder got the basics right and we will be hard to beat and he will build from this
Re new additions for Gus, Chair at QPR or Marriott at Reading or possibly the Barnsley winger
Re Cannon needs to move on for his sake suggest the Campbell at Charlton
