Wilder, Bettis and senior coaches agree pay deferrals

Right thing to do, wonder if it also sends an underlying message to the players?
 
It’s incredible that our coaching staff are deferring a percentage of there payment for 6 months as well!

They really are a credit to our club helping other staff members of our club.

Does the defer mean that they are just postponing the payment and will get it back eventually in full?

Yep, I thought the same, no substance or even a hint at a source, just a page filler.
 
Rather than putting pressure on the players I would call it leading by example. Nowhere has it been said the players have been asked to take a pay cut.

Don’t think it’s incredible at all.....virtually anyone would do it.....it’s a small but nice gesture.
I’d take a 10% deferral at my company for 6 months.....and then get the full money back in full.

In these times there’s not so much to do, no driving, no bars, no restaurants, no shopping...I bet expenses have gone down by more than 10%. My brother is on the furlough scheme....he‘s had a 20% pay cut but says he’s not much worse off because he commuted to Doncaster and doesn’t have these expenses.

My comments above are theoretical.
I forgot to add that every person has their own special circumstances...so there might be someone where a deferral is a massive inconvenience/ sacrifice.
 
Somethings gonna give, either the training ground upgrade is on hold or /and no new players in transfer market. Not enough cash to pay all that with the current situation.

Personally I don’t know anyone who has deferred their payment freely. It’s very uncommon practice. Look at Ozil he’s refusing his. But glass half empty it is what it is.
 
I don't think any of them will starve for 10%.
 



Don't make out that they are Superheroes for partly deferring their wages they will get it back in the future. A lot of people will be losing 20% plus of their wages that money will be lost, and no guarantees of a job at the end of it. the players can afford to have a reduction of 20% of their wages knowing that they will have a job to go back to.
 
My company has asked me to take a 10% paycut (not a deferral) despite me still working full time remotely. They have said they will review whether the business is ready to put this back up on a monthly basis (my inkling says they never will).
 
Depending on how long this lasts this might only be the start of any action. Luckily for us our wage bill isn't the biggest. Other clubs will be in worse positions. No idea how championship clubs will survive with no crowd money for a long time and gigantic losses the norm even with crowds
 
Giddings (also on the clip) later on in this asks about the contract expiry issue that’s been raised – Wilder’s basically said he doesn’t understand the issue, cites Jagielka as an example given his contract is up – he knows that if he were to ask Jags today if we could extend it a month to finish the season, he’d say yes without hesitation. If anyone else wouldn’t, they won’t be included, simple as.

I love his no nonsense approach and also his common sense all round approach to the game as a business.

How much better would football and its clubs be if the FA et al, were steered by people like Chris. I think he would make a brilliant President/Chairman of a football governing body. Such a top bloke.
 
Literally is your either with Sheffield United or against us. That runs through the squad so strongly.
 
It's a great gesture.
I do wonder how much income the PL clubs are actually losing. Obviously no gate receipts, but most of income is Sky money - have Sky held it back?
If not, I bet some clubs are better off with no matchday expenses.
