I don't entirely agree with this.

I think you are right about South Leeds where historically the support was for Hunslet and Leeds United but East Leeds is a rugby league area through and through.

East Leeds RLFC has a long and illustrious history in the amateur game and before the demolition of East Street to make way for a new road the plethora of pubs from the Smiths Arms to the Spring Close, and everywhere inbetween, were rugby league through and through

I worked on the post in LS9 for years and there were very few football fans about but the blue and yellow of the rhinos was everywhere.

Swarcliffe WMC in LS14 used to run coaches to the Leeds RL home games in my young days and the direct busses from Headingley to Seacroft and Halton Moor used to be packed on Leeds RL home game days.

That accounts for most of the area of East Leeds

I mentioned that as well, but thinking about it, they’re paying Cat A prices to watch us. So for them, one could argue that it’s justifiable for them. They’re paying £30 to watch Leeds at home. £29 Blades away....? Not bad is it.

I have the conversation about support with my Leeds mates regularly. For the fourth(?) biggest city in England that only has one team and a pretty reasonable catchment area to boot their support is bang average in terms of attendance at least. Compare it to Newcastle, a one team smaller city, or indeed Sheffield a two team smaller city then they really have little to crow about in terms of support albeit their more recent success has for some reason made them media darlings and not just locally.
Re the rugby/football debate I’ve worked in Leeds for years and while not scientific always felt there was a geographical split with north and west Leeds being more rugby and south and east more football.

When did leeds become a bigger city than Sheffield. They might like to think it is but they’re wrong, the metropolitan borough which includes places like Aberford and Swillington and which are counted in that population are miles from the actual city but are now included in the leeds population but the city itself hasn’t increased in size by that much.
I wouldn’t really say that leeds is a big sporting city at all, the rugby team get decent crowds by rugby league standards but they’re not massive and the football club gets about 30k with many fans travelling from outside the area whereas Sheffield are getting combined crowds of 200k every week, 25k going to the Lane all mainly from within the actual city.

I’m not from either so not going to fall out about size. The point I make is that the catchment area for Leeds is larger and more exclusive in terms of choice than us or indeed our neighbours. Going west there is Bradford which is actually full of Leeds and Burnley fans, east there’s no league club until Hull and north until Middlesbrough. That doesn’t even take into account fans from outside that area. Only really going south does it get more crowded for choice.
Given that, they are actually poorly supported in terms of attendance which is why their ground is so out of proportion with no major capacity increases for a while.

It's not a real Cat A though is it as we have a Cat A*. We have 3 categories, A*, A & B, so it's the middle one of 3. We should call them ABC or 123 then folk wouldn't get so irate about thinking they're paying top whack for poxy Wigan when they're not. The pigs game is the premium A* btw and will cost more.

Lots of blades in and around Wakefield district, I know I travel with some of them. Lots of Barnsley and Owls too so I’d call that fairly crowded

Wigan is a definitely a rugby town!!.’I recall many years ago travelling to Wigan with the blades travel club and the driver mistakenly took us to the rugby ground and had to ask directions from a local for the route to the ground!!!. I think the ground was called Springfield park?. It was a shit hole of a ground TBH. UTB

If not, it’s hard to keep the crisps in the sandwich. But I only like a thin spread even though it also improves the moisture and stops the sandwich sticking in the throat.

I do, aye. Like you, a thin layer to bond the sandwich together but not too thick so as to avoid the crisps going soggy.

I think any flavour goes well, but cheese and onion tops the list for me. Today was salt and vinegar.
