a new system is being introduced wherby purchases in the Superstore will be added to your total.

Posted by Mick Rooker on another blades forum. So basically people who travel to the ticket office get loyalty points, and possibly end up getting more points than some one who travels to south london on a tuesday night.YEAH NICE ONE

If someone purchases a shirt for say £40, why shouldn't they be entitled to points?

Its not loyalty though is it.You see plenty of people at blades matches wearing barcelona and milan shirts are they loyal to those clubs?

Sounds a good idea- if you buy something in the superstore- you are put someting into the club, so the club gives you something back.

I personally couldn't give a toss about the loyalty points system, it seems to be turning into yet another way to 'out blade' fellow supporters.

I'd be very surprised if, hillsboro derby aside, anyone struggles to get tickets for a game next year; with or without loyalty points.

One way to put it is,

United get money out of selling merchandise......

They are called loyalty points though, not the amount of money you spend at United points.

You are seeing this as a fans perspective. Not a business one.

If United can boost their revenue by offering loyalty points by purchasing stuff directly from their superstore, don't you think they see it as a good idea.

And if fans are then happy to go purchase the stuff, why is it a bad idea they get points? Perhaps these people can't get to away games, so this is a way to accrue some extra points.

Anyways, if these people then don't go to the away games, where is the problem?

On a personal note I'd rather go to an away game then get a blades shirt. But that is my perogative. Some people would rather have something to show for what they spend their money on.

I dont think theres too much wrong with getting points for spending in shop to be honest

there putting money into the club

But i'd expect you wouldnt get as many points for buying a shirt than going to a game!

Agree with Jodman, seems to me the only purpose of it is that it allows people to show off about how many points they have, no names mentioned.

I think out of the 8 or 9 away games I went to last season, I needed the loyalty points once, what that says about our away support last season I dont know!

I didn't need any loyalty points last season. The tickets for both cups' matches weren't exactly hard to get, and it was the first season in Christ knows how long that I didn't go to a single away match. For lots of reasons, the main one being the outrageous cost of attending, and the amount of "Premier Blades" that came out of the woodwork.
I still think that getting loyalty points for buying stuff is fine. How many of us buy a shirt? Or two? And other merchandise? We don't get much, apart from a 10% discount if you are a season ticket holder/supporter's club/superdraw member. Many of us are all three, and we don't get loyalty points from the latter two, so why not from giving the club an extra £100 or so? Some people might be grateful of the extra points that buying a shirt gives them.
