So The Maestro's contribution - a big fat lonely zero,

One or two of us knew that would be the case beforehand and said so. We don't need ex-post-facto assessment to demonstrate the uncomfortable truth. He is, as I've been telling you for years, a complete liability.

Boo,

His team-mates didn't use him enough? What a classic! Just how should they have used him? Training cone? Corner flag? Boot cleaner?

He may well play tomorrow. If he does, he will give the ball away as a matter of routine; the opposition midfield will ease past him without any difficulty leaving him chasing shadows. He'll then do the familiar one-paced plod as he tries in vain to keep up with nonentities from Scunthorpe. His attempts at control will make the ball seem like a spring-loaded jelly. He will not protect the back four though he will certainly break up play!

In other words business as usual. For once, why don't you all watch what the numpty actually does, rather than what you would like to think he does? Do it soon though, he won't be here much longer, thank the Lord.

Yes, it's the usual topic. No apologies. More and more of us are saying "Enough is enough". We've had ten years of your pub football, Monty and you're paid an obscene amount to delight us with your unique brand of midfield 'play'. Go and do it elsewhere now, please. We've got a promotion campaign to complete, playing the game properly. You can't help us with that.

I'm probably a third of your age. I cannot use the big foreign words and form sentences from them like you. How thick you must be though to keep focusing on one player and suggesting that another poster is stuck in their way. Please begin to understand the debates correctly. Bergan and boo had a good discussion going and you chirp in and pretend to know what your talking about. Most on here realise your petty game and the way you twist things round to suggest other posters meant something else than they actually did. Grow up and show some respect like others have shown you, or simply piss off somewhere else your boring.

1st November 1983 - 5-3 (Philliskirk 2, Brazil, Morris, Edwards). That was also last time we scored a goal against them at home. Mind you, we have only played them 3 times since then

14/9/10 L0-4

I still have nightmares about that match.
Jesus christ, ive never seen a match like it in my life and dont think i will again!

How very well summed up.
I would like to add that, the total lack of quality that Pinchy attaches to Monty is magnified tenfold and more by his on here.

This could ignite the blue touchpaper, but how many times did they receive the ball, and NOT find a team-mate?

I did not count that, but theren't very many, simply because they received so few passes from their teammates. I spotted one occasion where Doyle gave Lowton a bollocking for not giving him the ball, but I think it was obvious that playing the ball into midfield was no part of our tactics, and Doyle and Montgomery were very rarely showing for the ball. Their involvement was almost exclusively picking up or challenging for loose balls.

Instead, we tried to build attacks down the flanks, with Lowton and Williamson combining well at the start of the game. I think wednesday soon sussed out that though (they had Prutton playing out of position to help Reda with Lowton/Williamson) and a lot of our attacks were chipped balls from our defenders up to our strikers or a roaming Quinn.

Its a good point about the flanks. Did i hear they'd narrowed the pitch for the game?

Are so many of you wishing to hang out our players over 1 defeat. You've enjoyed the season so far and surely you're not going to give up on OUR team just after this?
So some got it wrong and had an off day. These are the same guys who've given us so much to be proud of so far. I'm sure they will again if we stay behind them.

COYRAWW

Bit of a tired strained performance tonight but I will always support my team whoever puts the shirt on.

And as some were saying Willo is class. Also the player slaters may be quiet for a while.

We were just lucky Scunny had a player sent off

Our win had nothing to do with luck. We won because we deserved to do so after a very good second half performance. Just as we deserved to be behind after a poor first half .

Even after the sending off, Scunthorpe were coping with us quite comfortably for the remainder of the half. It was our change of line up and approach that won us this game.

Teams with 10 men often win against teams with 11. We have done it ourselves often enough to know that and Manchester United have even won an FA cup after going a man down.

Give the side (and manager) some credit. Whatever happens in our remaining 14 games we showed a bit of spirit last night. The pressure was on us to win this match and we did so after starting badly and going a goal behind. There are many occasions in the past when we would not have turned a match like that around.
