It goes to show, you can drop points against anybody, even rock bottom.

trouble is so can we.

i reaaaaaaaaally cant see us beating pompeii and crue.
tomorrow will be incredible tough, their fans will be chiming and trumping and allsorts.
plus i think the goal the other night could have deflated everybody.
is it wrong that i kinda half wish we had danny won'tson back for this one?????
hope im wrong but i can see us getting beat.
no disgrace if we do, theyre unbeaten in 6 at home and theyll be buzzing from the takeover.
typical blades luck, we couldnt have had this fixture in the 6 months when they crap.

If I was playing that pompey bell would be enough to send me crackers.

So a win to them is on the cards.

Another take on this is that we'll probably be playing Bristol City in the Third next season. Depending on summer panic-selling, they (and Peterborough) have proved there are no piss-poor teams coming down. Throw in Wolves or Barnsley and we'll look back on this season as one where the Third has never been poorer.

cringe worthy how Hull are on the cusp of joining the prem and we moan about drawing some of our home games 0-0 the quality of the championship is so poor this season , the 3 relegated clubs that joined have not enhanced it at all

same was said of teams like preston and coventry
the fact is the championship is poor

Apparently, Bristol City have a wage bill of £18m! They will have problems next year if true.

I'm baffled. Why does this give us hope?

Meaning if Hull (2nd) drop points vs relegated Bristol C (24th) then the same could happen to Brentford and Bournemouth.. It's difficult to get over the line towards the end, let's hope they falter.

It would be nice if we go into the last game within touching distance and a slim chance of 2nd

Hardly encouraging when we (4th) are playing Portsmouth (22nd).

Or....the championship is piss poor in terms of quality this season with no outstanding teams with many of similar quality to each other. Charlton,Wednesday and Huddersfield could all survive when at least 2 of these were among the favourites to go down. Their squads even now don't appear that strong. This would imply that the 3rd tier is getting closer to the bottom half of the Championship in terms of quality and the teams coming down won't provide any fears to those left in league one.

Hull City v Bristol City last night....I've seen better games this season at our level with more skill and passion. Hull are the 2nd best team in that league...high standard ? Remember the Dingles v Pigs match? Awful game as meany have on Sky this seasosn from Division 2.

The 3 relegated clubs will have to shed a lot of players to get below the salary cap which will inevitably destabilise them.

'Third never been poorer' ? Really ? It has more teams competing for the top than last season but is it really poor for division 3 or is our judgement clouded because we scored goals for fun last season and haven't done so this season?

Yes, it's interesting that several teams in the Championship are seriously minted - either by wealthy backers or recent and on-going parachute payments. Yet few of them seem to be serious about getting into 'the promised land'. Why is this? Personally, I think some chairmen realise that most of these riches will be pissed up against the wall in terms of transfer fees/agents, and all for what? These 'smaller teams' get reeled in after 3/4 seasons (Stoke, Reading - or Norwich and probably Swansea next season). I also think that some chairmen have a 'Northern mill town mentality' (Burnley, Blackpool) 'Ah, we've played wi't big boogers, but we won't be mekkin that mistake agin!' Blackpool and Burnley got parachutes payments we can only dream of, but still play in 1950s shit hole grounds. Probably end up back where they began/deserve.

Then you've got teams like Forest - quality (on paper) all over this pitch and even on the bench. I wouldn't say the Championship is piss poor, more baffling and intriguing.

Stand by what I said, bart. I think we'll look back on this season as our 'big chance' in terms of paucity of opposition - certainly poorer than last season and there certainly haven't been Southampton, Norwich etc. like in recent years.

We only have experience enough to compare season 1 with season 2. The fact that we are much poorer as a team this year (surely no takers for an argument about that?) and are either going up automatically or have a chance via the playoffs exactly as this time last year tells you all you need to know.

I also think the Championship is improving and the gap between them and League One is widening. Watched Forest vs Brighton this easter and thought both teams looked better than us.

Why , does the promotion clause kick into effect on Quinner as soon as they go up , nice bit of business mr mac , ohh sorry there is'nt a promotion clause in the contract , surprise surprise .
'' Baile Atha Cliath Blade 10 ''

I doubt theres a clause. And if there is. It will be pretty pitiful.
Lets face it. We couldnt afford to keep him & Hull knew this. They had ours pants down.

I hope we win today. But even if we do i cant see the teams above us dropping points either.

Quick word about Bristol City. Be interesting for them next season. Would anyone take Stead back? Maybe as a replacement for Kitson?

At least I got one thing right this season. Back in October I said Tranmere wouldn't even make play offs

Went to reduce the wage bill.

Not sure of his contract was but 2 yrs left at 12K/week saves £1.2M

No brainer to sell

I bet Kitson & Higginbottom are at least on a combined 12k a week.
I bet we havent saved a penny.

By miles Bergers. Watching a few Championship games on TV this season has shown a huge chasm between us and that league.

if that were the case(which I am sure it isn't) one will have been with us 4 months and the other 9 months. Both will probably leave at the end of the season. Still a big saving

And we will still be in League 1.
